Even though it may not be a typical Diwali this year, to make it exciting the Photo Sharing app Instagram has begun rolling out new augmented reality (AR) effects for all its users across India. The new AR filter is called ‘Share Your Light’. Also, the social media platform has also collaborated with content creators such as Shirley Setia, Kusha Kapila and Arjun Kanungo for new IGTV shows.
In the past Instagram has been launching AR filters and GIFs for various occasions in India such as Holi, Navratri among others. Recently Instagram released some new AR filters, gif stickers and content programming for Durga Puja. And now this Diwali social media platform has come up with a new augmented reality (AR) effect called ‘Share Your Light’ for the Indian users. This AR Diwali filter will be available in seven Indian languages including English, Hindi, Marathi, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu and Urdu and are now up on its platform in India.
How to use the Instagram Diwali effect?
To use the AR effect for Diwali the users need to open the gallery and search for ‘festive diya’. The new art effects will include designs inspired by mandalas, diyas, festive lights and colours. In addition to this, the effects will also include a message ‘Share Your Light’ that will be shown in seven Indian languages. But you can also go for the ones with now text on the AR filters.
Apart from this, the company has also partnered with creators for content just like it did on Rakhi, Onam and Ganesh Utsav. For Diwali, Instagram is going to webcast an IGTV show that will be a 5-part series. The IGTV shows will include:
- ‘Sundays with Shirley’ by Shirley Setia
- ‘It will take five minutes only’ by Kusha Kapila
- ‘Arjun Right Now’ by Arjun Kanungo
- ‘In the Nick of time’ by Nikunj Lotia aka Beyounick
- ‘Shockumentaries’ by RJ Abhinav
- ‘Shockumentaries’ by RJ Abhinav
The shows by Kusha Kapila and Lisa Mishra have already gone live. And if you have missed out on the shows then you can follow their creators on Instagram.
