Indian Mobile Congress (IMC) 2020 is being held in India virtually all thanks to COVID-19. During the online tech conference Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani during his keynote promised to bring 5G networks to the country by next year. He also stressed upon the need for the 5G connectivity which is expected to be rolled by the second half of 2021 by the Indian telecom company.
Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani today announced at the Indian Mobile Congress (IMC) 2020 that their company will bring 5G connectivity support for better network coverage and connectivity. According to him, Reliance Jio will be using indigenous-developed network, hardware and technology components to bring 5G support to the new smartphones. During the conference, he also stressed to accelerate the early rollout of 5G, and to make it affordable and available everywhere. He also assures that Jio will pioneer the 5G Revolution in India in the second half of 2021. The company will work with other companies such as Qualcomm and Samsung to bring 5G in India. To recall during the Qualcomm 5G Summit that was held in October this year he declared that the company’s 5G Radio Access Network (RAN) is under works.
In his speech, he said, “As many as 300 million mobile subscribers in India are still trapped in the 2G era. Urgent policy steps are needed to ensure that these underprivileged people have an affordable smartphone.” He also added that Jio Platforms, with its family of over 20 start-up partners, has built world-class capabilities in Artificial Intelligence, Cloud Computing, Big Data, Machine Learning, Internet of Things, Blockchain, etc. We are creating compelling home-grown solutions in Education, Healthcare, Agriculture, Infrastructure, Financial Services and New Commerce. Each of these solutions, once proven in India, will be offered to the rest of the world to address global challenges.”
Apart from this, the company is also working with the Search giant Google to release its 4G Android smartphone which is speculated to come around Q1 of 2021 to be priced under Rs 4,000. The company is also in talks with the local assemblers to manufacture a new entry level Jio phone. In addition to this the Billionaire Mukesh Ambani also stressed upon producing digital hardware in the country. He said, “Many leading global companies are coming to India to set up manufacturing facilities. India has developed world-class strengths in chip design. I clearly foresee India becoming a major hub for the state-of-the-art semiconductor industry.”
