In an interview, Tom Howard, Nothing’s Head of Design discussed about the design and build of the upcoming smartphone Nothing Phone 1. According to the interview, the device will carry transparent design language similar to Nothing Ear 1 TWS earphones that was released last year. As per the company its aim is to reintroduce excitement and optimism to the industry. And their distinct design identity is consistent across all products and plays with transparency, but designers and engineers are fighting an uphill battle. Apart from that, the phone will support wireless charging. “we started to sketch different layouts that broke away from typical Android phones, choosing the wireless charging coil as our hero among the hundreds of components, and played with it like a puzzle,” he said.

‘There are over 400 components in a smartphone, assembled in layers. We wanted to celebrate the “good ones”, the things we thought were really interesting to emphasise’ he quoted.
