OnePlus 5, OnePlus 5T, OnePlus 6 and OnePlus 6T are getting the OxygenOS Open Beta update: Here’s everything that’s new

Before the much-awaited launch of the OnePlus 7, that is scheduled for May 14, OnePlus seems to be focusing on its previous smartphones. The company has started rolling out its new OxygenOS Open Beta updates for the OnePlus 5 and the OnePlus 5T with many new features such as live background app activity while using Quick Reply, new UI, better search functionality etc. The more recent OnePlus 6 and the OnePlus 6T are also receiving the new OxygenOS Open Beta update. For the OnePlus 6-series the updates are similar to that of OnePlus 5-series with addition of the intelligent Cleanup feature in the File Manager. We should mention that this feature is exclusively available for the users in India only.

Manu J, the Product Operations Manager at OnePlus revealed the changelog of the new OxygenOS Open Beta 31 update for the OnePlus 5 and the Open Beta 29 update for the OnePlus 5T. The changelog was revealed on the official OnePlus forum.

The newest improvement and change which the new Open Beta update brings is the improved Quick Reply feature. Post the update, it can be used in the landscape mode seamlessly. Earlier, the app activity used to stop when using the Quick Reply feature in the landscape mode, but the new update has the issue resolved. OnePlus has also added support for more instant messaging applications which are compatible with the native Quick Reply feature while using the OnePlus 5 and the OnePlus 5T in landscape mode.

The new OxygenOS Open Beta update hasn’t only brought the performance improvements but also the aesthetical and graphical improvements as well. Now, the system update page comes with a new look, along with the fixed system issue of sending the device overheating warnings.

Other than that, the OnePlus Community too has received changes and improvements such as improved Social Page UI, a new and improved search field with the arrival of grouped search results across different categories. There are also some improvements in the Bug Report section.

Coming to the OnePlus 6-series changelog, the OnePlus 6 is getting the OnePlus Open Beta 17 update while the OnePlus 6T is getting the Open Beta 9 update. As mentioned above, the changelog of the OnePlus 6-series is similar to the changelog of the OnePlus 5-series. But there is also an addition of the intelligent clean-up feature in the File Manager application of the OnePlus 6-series. But it should be noted that this new addition is only available for the Indian users of the OnePlus 6-series.
