OnePlus CEO Pete Lau confirmed that the upcoming OnePlus 8 devices will be offering LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.0 storage

Both the devices will be featuring  Snapdragon 865 processor

OnePlus the Chinese smartphone brand has now officially announced that the upcoming OnePlus 8 series will be unveiled on April 14. The series is going to include two devices OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro. Prior to its launch, the company has confirmed that the OnePlus 8 is going to feature a display with 120Hz of refresh rate along with 5G connectivity support on both the devices. Now the company’s CEO Pete Lau himself shared few details with regard to its upcoming smartphone series.

CEO Pete Lau via its community forum spilled the beans about the OnePlus 8 series. According to his post the both OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro is going to employ a Snapdragon 865 processor coupled with LPDDR5 and UFS 3.0, for a better performance and transfer rate.

The Snapdragon 865 chipset is Qualcomm’s latest and most powerful chip that improves the performance of the device while reducing power consumption. It is going to offer a 25% increase in CPU performance, a 25% rise in GPU rendering times while being 25% more energy efficient. Additionally, it will offer a 16% reduction in power consumption when shooting videos and a 40% increase in video noise pixel processing power. The processor’s AI performance is twice as fast as its predecessor. This is all possible because of the Hexagon 698 DSP that offers 35% better power efficiency.

He further revealed that LPDDR5 RAM will make its debut on the new OnePlus 8 devices that will offer a transfer rate of 400Mbps at bandwidth as high as 51.2GB/s. The latest RAM technology provides a 45% lower power consumption when compared with the previous generation.

Whereas the UFS 3.0 flash storage will be offering reading as well as writing speed of up to 1700Mb/s.  The company has also added two new technologies to the mix—Turbo Write and Host Performance Booster that will boost the storage performance.
