As people are stuck at home due to health concerns and lockdown they are finding different ways to reduce the boredom. The schools are and colleges are also closed to contain the spread of the coronavirus therefore the kids are now stuck at home. During the lockdown, the Tiktok users have also increased and it has become one of the most used social media apps amongst the youngsters that also includes kids to stay entertained and connected. Now the company has introduced a new parenting control feature called Family Pairing. This will allow the parents to set controls on Screen Time Management, Restricted Mode and Direct Messages for their kids. They can now also disable direct messaging for users under the age of 16.
“Today, we are advancing our commitment to building for the safety of our users by introducing Family Pairing, which allows parents and teens to customize their safety settings based on individual needs. Family Pairing enhances our suite of safety tools and complements our work to provide greater access to product features as users reach key milestones for digital literacy. It is part of our continued work toward providing parents better ability to guide their teen’s online experience while allowing time to educate about online safety and digital citizenship,” the company in its blog post said.
Tiktok is a social media platform which is being used to express creativity, sharing stories and much more. The app is becoming popular amongst the kids especially teen users and the company has now released a feature called Family Pairing that will allow the parents to remotely set restrictions on their kids’ accounts. This will allow them to link their kid’s account to their own and set controls.
Screen Time Management: The feature will allow you to set control on your child how much time they can spend on the app during the whole day. Additionally, the company has also partnered with top creators to make short videos that appear right in the app and encourage users to keep tabs on their screen time. These videos will encourage teens to take a break and do something offline, like read a book.
Restricted Mode: The parents can now limit the appearance of content that may not be appropriate for all audiences especially kids. Even without Family Pairing enabled, parents can help their teen set Screen Time Management and Restricted Mode by visiting the app’s Digital Wellbeing controls at any time.
Direct Messages: You can now also restrict who can send messages to the connected account, or turn off direct messaging completely. Now only approved followers can message each other also the company now restricts sending videos and images in messages.
