In March this year the popular messenger app WhatsApp rolled out the Dark Mode feature on both Android as well as iOS platforms globally. Soon after the launch the company was spotted testing the dark mode on the WhatsApp web and desktop. Now the Facebook-owned messaging app has rolled out the Dark Mode to the desktop and the online users too.
WhatsApp has brought the Dark Mode to its webs and desktop platform too and with the introduction of this new feature, it will completely change the look of the interface. In addition to this the company is also rolling out Animated Stickers, QR code features to its platform.
The new browser version and the desktop app will now be getting to change the colour theme of the platform from bright to a darker mode. The Dark Mode will minimize eye fatigue when used in low lighting conditions. From now on when you log in to the browser or desktop version of the messaging app you will see the homepage, settings, toolbars and everything changed to the new colour dark colour theme. So if you are already using it on your Android and iOS platform and then you must also try it out on your WhatsApp Web. Just follow the step below and you are good to go.
How to enable Dark Mode on the WhatsApp web and desktop version:
- First, open your web browser and enter whatsapp.com
- Now log in to your WhatsApp account using the QR Code. This can be done by tapping on the three vertical dots on the top corner of your screen and now tap on the WhatsApp Web and scan the QR code being shown on your desktop.
- Once you are logged in, now tap on the three-dot icon at the right corner and select Settings
- Within the option choose Theme
- Now you will be getting two options: dark and light themes. Select the ‘web dark’ and click OK to enable the theme on the platform.

Besides the Animated stickers and dark theme, WhatsApp has also rolled out QR code support to add WhatsApp contacts. Every WhatsApp user has a unique QR code with the release of this feature they can immediately add contacts on their device by scanning the QR code that will be available in the profile’s section. Apart from that, the users can now press and hold a participant’s video to view it in full screen. Also, the company is bringing a separate video call icon in group chats having eight or fewer members. In addition to this, the company is releasing support for ‘Status’ on its KaiOS version. The JioPhone and Nokia users will be able to put a status that will vanish after 24 hours.
