Twitter begins testing Shop Module to allow users to shop directly from the platform

The Twitter shopping feature is right not accessible in the US.

The microblogging site Twitter has announced the launch of its new shopping feature on its platform. This functionality is known as Twitter Shop Module that will allow users to explore and make direct purchases from the platform itself. As of now, this feature is being made available in the US. 

Commenting on the launch, Twitter’s Product Lead, Goldbird said, “today, we’re launching a pilot of the Shop Module – a feature that allows us to explore how shoppable profiles can create a pathway from talking about and discovering products on Twitter to actually purchasing them.”

Twitter Shop Module is a dedicated space that can be found at the top of a profile where businesses can showcase their products. Those who have this feature enabled will be able to scroll through the carousel of products from the businesses profile and tap through on a single product to learn more and purchase — seamlessly in an in-app browser, without having to leave Twitter.

According to Twitter initially, the Shop Module will be made available in the US with a handful of brands. So people in the U.S. who use Twitter in English on iOS devices will be able to see the Shop Module.

“We believe in the power of the conversations that Twitter facilitates around products. With this pilot, we’ll get to explore how our engaged, responsive and chatty audience reacts to products that are emotionally charged — like a new jersey from your favourite sports team — or that provide lasting impact — like a new skincare regimen. And, fundamentally, it’ll give us the chance to keep learning about which shopping experiences people prefer on Twitter,” the company said.”

To provide a better shopping experience Twitter is also working with businesses for its new Merchant Advisory Board. As per the microblogging site, the board will include brands that have established themselves as best-in-class examples of merchants on Twitter. “With their partnership, we hope to more easily address the needs of businesses of any size or vertical in our product innovation,” the company added.

Additionally, Twitter Shop Module will build around Professional Profiles, which it started introducing earlier this year. It lets businesses across the globe – from small businesses and legacy brands to creator-founded businesses to have access to customized profiles with features intended to help drive engagement and business outcomes.
