With the emergence of so many OTT content player like Netflix, Voot, Hotstar, Amazon Prime Etc, some might wonder YouTube Premium is a small fish in the pond. However, some beg to differ and YouTube Premium is quickly becoming a force to reckon with. Many swear by the service as it gives the best of both worlds good premium content, YouTube Originals as well as a lot of user-created content, without ads.
Earlier YouTube Premium used to give its users the option to download a video for offline viewing in just 720p resolution. However, with the new update rolling out the consumers of the service will be able to download videos for offline watching in 1080p resolution. This is certainly good news for people who might want to catch up on content in better resolution. Or people who want to watch the content on a large screen like FHD monitors or TVs at a later time.
The rollout has started in the premium market’s firsts. Insiders to Gadget Bridge have told us that the rollout will happen for the Indian watcher as well, but it might take some time. Right now, the update is rolling out in the USA and other bigger markets. With YouTube Premium users also get access to YouTube Music service in which the subscribers do not see any ads.
This is a good move by the company since many small screens like a smartphone also support 1080p video resolution and some support FHD+ too. Hopefully, the new update will come to Indian shores too in the coming weeks. So that consumers here will be able to enjoy the benefits as well. Right now, YouTube Premium service in India comes with the first month free-trial after which one has to pay Rs 129 per month for it.
