India’s homegrown tech outfit, Lava, is back with a new instalment in its Agni series. After trying an experimental second display on the Agni 3 (our review here), the company has gone back to the basics with its new offering. The Agni 4 rocks a new design, a brighter display, and a more powerful Dimensity 8350 processor running at its core. Moderately priced at Rs 25,000, it will give a lot of phones in its segment a run for their money. We used it as our daily driver for a week, putting it through a series of tests. Lava Agni 4 Review: Design and Display

Here’s what you get inside Lava Agni 4’s retail box:

Lava’s new design philosophy for its ‘Agni’ series is an exciting one. Gone is the secondary display on the back panel – sacrificed for a cleaner, more premium look. The glass back panel has a smooth matte finish. The oval camera island is aligned towards the centre, causing no wobble whatsoever. The two camera sensors lie on either end of this cutout, with the ‘AGNI’ lettering and a sleek flash bar in the middle. Overall, the smartphone exudes a clean look and has a splendid in-hand feel – something you’d expect from a flagship device.

Lava Agni 4 Review: Design and Display

The glass back panel curves ever so gently towards the flat aluminium frame. This frame has rounded corners. Its right edge houses the volume rocker, side button, and a new ‘Action’ key. The single-press, double-press, and long-press actions for this key are completely customisable. It is positioned towards the bottom of the device, which is something we like because it fosters a more natural hand position when you use it as a shutter button. At the bottom of the frame lie the SIM tray, primary microphone, USB-C slot, and primary speaker. The secondary speaker, noise-cancelling microphone, and IR blaster are placed up top.

Lava Agni 4 Review: Design and Display

The 6.67-inch AMOLED display is one of Agni 4’s biggest assets. It has a 120Hz refresh rate and can reach a peak brightness of 2,400 nits. We did not face any legibility issues while using the device under direct sunlight. The touch response is very fluid and smooth. The bezels surrounding the display are slim and uniform. The optical fingerprint scanner under the display, while not as fast as its ultrasonic counterparts, does the job quite well.

We used the Lava Agni 4 as our primary media streaming device during the review period, streaming content across OTT platforms like Netflix, Prime Video, and JioHotstar. The 1.5K AMOLED display produced detailed visuals packed with vibrant colours. The deep blacks and punchy contrast are a big step up from an ordinary LCD panel. While the viewing experience is top-notch, the stereo speaker setup is a bit of a letdown. The boxy audio output is something that Lava needs to sort out in its next Agni iteration.

Lava Agni 4 Review: Performance and Cameras

At the heart of the Lava Agni 4 lies the MediaTek Dimensity 8350 chipset. The device is equipped with 8GB LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB UFS 4.0 storage. There are no other storage options on offer.

Here’s how the smartphone performed in the Geekbench 6 test.

  • Single-core: 1,462 points.
  • Multi-core: 4,536 points.

 

As the benchmark numbers suggest, the Agni 4 goes through routine tasks like a hot knife through butter. While daily driving the device, we did not come across a single issue while performing tasks like calling, instant messaging, media streaming, web browsing, and navigation. The UFS 4.0 storage configuration ensures that apps take no time to load. The LPDDR5X RAM is pretty fast as well, juggling multiple apps without breaking a sweat. Our only complaint lies with the blunt vibrational feedback produced by the haptic motor. It feels a smidge cheap on an otherwise premium device.

The gaming performance of the Agni 4 is quite underrated. Lava does not market it as a gaming phone, but it can hang with the best of them. We were able to play Call of Duty Mobile at 90fps with low graphics settings. Pushing the graphics to their highest settings meant contending with a 60fps frame rate. This wasn’t an issue for us, as the gameplay delivered by the device was smooth and consistent. Annoying lags and frame drops were nowhere to be seen. The 50MP front-facing camera takes clear selfies. The images are clear and detailed. However, the smartphone tends to smooth the skin tone of the subject in the processing stage. It carries out tone correction as well, but not at the expense of the selfie looking artificial. The front-facing camera and primary shooter can record 4K videos at 30 and 60fps. Meanwhile, the ultrawide camera can record 1,080p footage at 30fps.

Lava Agni 4 is the dark horse of its segment. It may not get the plaudits it deserves, but it will certainly carve a niche of loyal users for itself. In many ways, it feels like Lava’s statement piece. The clean design language, coupled with smart craftsmanship, makes this device punch above its weight. It looks and feels like a premium product – something we don’t get to say about the phones in this segment.

The charming aesthetics are matched with a rock-solid performance. The Dimensity 8350 SoC is super reliable when it comes to everyday tasks. The consistent and smooth gameplay offered by this device deserves a shout-out as well. The 6.77-inch AMOLED display is smooth, responsive, and snappy. The cameras, while not the best in the segment, put up a good performance in outdoor daylight conditions.

While the Agni 4 checks all of the important boxes, Lava still has some work to do when it comes to software experience. For starters, its most premium offering should run the latest Android OS version. Additionally, the software needs to be perfectly optimised for a fluid browsing experience. This means better transitions, animations, and visual effects. Lastly, Lava needs to polish and garnish its add-ons and customisations. This series contains the 16 Pro+ 5G and 16 Pro 5G, which both use a MediaTek Dimensity 7000 series processor and a 7,000 mAh Titan battery. The gadgets will be offered in two distinct colours on Flipkart and the company’s website. Pricing information has not yet been provided.

The Realme 16 Pro 5G will be released in India and will be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7300-Max 5G chipset, which scored over 970,000 points on the AnTuTu benchmarking platform. It will use an AirFlow vapour chamber cooling mechanism to regulate temperature, and it will run Android 16 with Realme UI 7.0.

Furthermore, the AMOLED display is said to feature a 144Hz refresh rate, 1.5K resolution, a peak brightness of 6,500 nits, and 1.07 billion colours, as well as Realme’s Next AI technologies.

Google has begun to roll out a new tool that will enable users to change their email addresses, even those with the “@gmail.com” domain.  In the past, only those with third-party email addresses were able to change their account email.

Google is apparently scrapping its long-standing policy that prevents users with “@gmail.com” addresses from changing their email addresses. While customers of third-party email providers have been able to make changes for years, a new mechanism is being progressively implemented for Gmail users. 

Telegram’s “Google Pixel Hub” group initially revealed the information, according to 9to5Google. You need your Google Account email address to log into Google services and identify your account. You may change your Gmail address to a new one if you choose.

To change your Google Account email address, simply replace one Gmail address (ending in gmail.com) with another. If you want to switch to a non-Gmail address, you must first delete your current Gmail account. Alternatively, you can add a non-Gmail address as an alias without deleting the Gmail account; however, the alias may need to be verified. If you currently have a non-Gmail email address and wish to switch to a Gmail address, you must first add Gmail to your account. Your company, school, or another organisation may apply different regulations when managing your email. When you change your Google Account email address from gmail.com to another one, your previous gmail.com address becomes an alias, allowing you to receive emails from both addresses. You may check into Google services with either your old or new email address.

To update your Google Account’s email address, go to myaccount.google.com/google-account-email on your computer and sign in as asked. Next, in the top left corner, select “Personal Information.” Locate and choose the “Google Account email address” option. If it is accessible, you will see an option to update your Google Account email address. If you don’t see this option, you might not be able to change your email address.

Changing your Google Account email address from an existing @gmail.com address to a new one is doable, but it may cause some issues with Google services. It is critical to check for certain conditions before making this change, especially if you use a Chromebook or rely on Google services such as Sign in with Google or Chrome Remote Desktop. Additionally, it is recommended that you back up your data, as some app settings may be reset, similar to checking in on a new device. Notably, your old Gmail address is still accessible, and you will have access to your new Gmail address.

Nothing has had an eventful year. The London-based tech outfit came out with a new flagship phone (our review here) this year after a 2-year long hiatus. On top of that, it bolstered its midrange portfolio with two new A-series offerings. Its subsidiary brand, CMF, also put out a successor to the highly-rated and widely-acclaimed Phone 1 (our review here). As 2025 draws to an end, Nothing has one more card left to play – a new entry-level smartphone that rivals its CMF cousin, Phone 2 Pro (our review here). While the two smartphones share a lot of similarities, the key point of distinction is the design. If you’re a fan of Nothing’s see-through aesthetic, this new product will be right up your alley. Here is our review of the new Nothing Phone (3a) Lite.

Nothing Phone (3a) Lite Review: Design and Display

Here’s what you get inside the Phone (3a) Lite’s retail box:

The Phone (3a) Lite’s back panel follows Nothing’s signature see-through design language. The transparent glass panel gives you a look at the screws and the battery section. The red accent is positioned at its usual spot in the top-right section. While there isn’t an intricate pattern overlaid on the internals, the Lite model looks undeniably like a Nothing offering. The three camera sensors get individual cutouts instead of a camera island. The Glyph lighting is reduced to a small LED light in the bottom-right corner of the panel.

The plastic frame houses the side button and the Essential key on its right edge. The volume rocker is placed on the opposite edge. At the bottom lies the hybrid SIM tray (with microSD support, primary microphone, USB-C port, and speaker grille. The noise-cancelling microphone is placed up top. The device is rated IP54 for protection against dust and water splashes.

The 6.77-inch AMOLED display on this device is identical to the one on its CMF cousin. This 120Hz panel can reach 1,300 nits in High Brightness Mode. While playing HDR content, it can hit a peak brightness of 3,000 nits. It is able to overcome bright outdoor conditions to maintain legibility. The touch response on offer here is very smooth. The optical fingerprint sensor under the display is fast and snappy. The even bezels around the screen lend it a premium look.

During the review period, we used the Nothing Phone (3a) Lite as our primary media streaming device. We used it to watch TV and movie titles across OTT platforms like Netflix, Prime Video, and JioHotstar. The AMOLED display produced brilliant visuals packed with vibrant colours and exemplary dynamic range. However, the audio output from the lone bottom-firing speaker is a bit boxy. A stereo speaker setup would’ve been ideal.

The Phone (3a) Lite is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 Pro chipset. This is the same SoC that lies at the core of the CMF Phone 2 Pro. There are 2 storage variants on offer, both rocking 8GB RAM:

The Phone (3a) Lite makes light work of routine tasks like calling, instant messaging, web browsing, media streaming, navigation, and more. Browsing the phone feels fast, seamless, and snappy. Apps don’t take much time to load, and the smartphone does a brilliant job of juggling multiple tasks without throwing a stutter or lag. During our week with the device, we did not come across a single performance-related issue. The wonderfully tuned haptic motor ties the entire experience together. Like its CMF counterpart, this smartphone’s vibrational feedback is the best in the segment.

While Nothing’s entry-level offering isn’t marketed as a gaming phone, it does a good job of handling titles like BGMI and Call of Duty Mobile. We were able to enjoy a consistent and lag-free gaming experience at medium graphics and a 60fps frame rate. There were no frame drops to be seen. The internal temperature of the device started rising once we pushed beyond the 30-minute mark.

Over the years, we’ve come to expect a clean and smooth software experience from Nothing. We’re happy to report that this experience is extended to its most affordable phone on the market as well. There are a couple of bloatware apps on this device – something we can look past because of the affordable price tag. However, Nothing has not cut back any of the aesthetic elements. You get access to the full range of widgets, alongside lockscreen customisations, and the signature dot-matrix font. The Essential Key, which records information and tucks it away in the Essential Space, is also present on this device.

The highlight of the Android 16-based Nothing OS 3.5 is how light and airy it feels. The subtle animations and effects play into the ‘snappy’ feeling. Everything feels well optimised. The LED light at the back can be customised to display essential notifications. You can assign different ringtones and lighting patterns to your favourite contacts. ‘Flip to Glyph’ silences the phone and alerts you about the incoming calls and notifications through the LED light. Due to the form factor limitations, you can track orders or create new tones on the new Glyph interface. When it comes to software support, Nothing has promised 3 major OS upgrades and 6 years of security patches for this device.

The Phone (3a) Lite packs a 5,000mAh battery under its hood. It offers a standard 1-day battery life on a full charge. On days with 5-6 hours of screen time, we were left with almost 15% charge in the tank. If you’re more conservative with your usage, you can extend the battery life to 1.5 days. The smartphone supports 33W wired charging. It takes up to 90 minutes to reach a full charge.

The rear camera array comprises a 50MP primary shooter, an 8MP ultrawide lens, and a 2MP macro sensor. Unlike its CMF cousin, it does not carry a telephoto lens. A 16MP front-facing camera is positioned in a punch-hole cutout on the display.

The 50MP primary shooter captures good pictures in outdoor daylight conditions. The images showcase balanced colours with natural tuning. We like that it doesn’t artificially boost the colours to appear more vibrant. The contrast and dynamic range are satisfactory. In limited lighting conditions, the Night Mode does a good job of lighting up the shot and getting rid of the grain.

The 8MP ultrawide lens takes notably softer images, but that is something to be expected from most devices in this price bracket. What this lens lacks in detail, it tries to make up for in colour. The real surprise was its performance in limited lighting conditions, where it produced largely grain-free and well-lit shots.

Portraits taken with the Phone (3a) Lite are vibrant and well-focused. The smartphone does a good job of separating the subject from the background and applying a decent level of background blur. The 16MP front-facing camera captures clear selfies, albeit with a tinge of tone and texture correction effects. This camera can record 1,080p videos at 30 and 60fps. The primary shooter can record 4K footage at 30fps. The video recording chops of the ultrawide lens are limited to 1,080p resolution at 30fps.

Verdict

The Nothing Phone (3a) Lite is meant for users who are impressed by CMF Phone 2’s specs, but are put off by its modular design. Nothing’s entry-level offering demands a premium of Rs 2,000 over its CMF counterpart, while missing out on the telephoto lens. This is a worthwhile trade-off in our books, as the glass back panel and Nothing’s iconic see-through design language bring much-needed flair to the device. The MediaTek Dimensity 7300 Pro at the heart of this device is a reliable processor that won’t leave you hanging for power in everyday use. Nothing’s software experience and coverage are still the best in this segment. For folks who like a rock-solid performance served with a side of personality, this device is a great buy under Rs 25,000.

Realme plans to debut a new product portfolio in India next month. Recently, the business unveiled the Realme Pad 3 5G India launch date. The forthcoming tablet will be introduced alongside the Realme 16 Pro series and Buds Air 8. The company’s website lists its features, which include a better resolution display than its predecessor, the Realme Pad 2, but price information is not disclosed.

Realme has announced to launch the Pad 3 5G in India on January 6 at noon. The company has disclosed on its dedicated website that its upcoming tablet would include a 12,200 mAh Titan Battery, a Book-View Display with 2.8K resolution and minimal bezels, stylus compatibility, and Next AI for Pad tools.

Furthermore, it is rumoured to include a dual back camera unit with an LED flash, housed in a square-shaped design. The company logo is placed in the centre of the rear panel and will be available in black and gold colours. More information will be revealed soon.

While announcing the upcoming tablet, the company said, “Positioned as ‘The Smartest Tablet for Students’, Realme Pad 3 is designed to make everyday learning more intuitive and efficient. On the other hand, a dedicated webpage from Flipkart and fresh X teasers from Realme reveal that both the Realme 16 Pro+ 5G and Realme 16 Pro 5G will include a primary back camera with 200 megapixels. The Realme 16 Pro+ 5G will also have a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto camera. It will enable 4K HDR video recording at multiple zoom levels, including 1x, 2x, 3.5x, 7x, and 10x, as well as dual-focal 4K video at 60 fps for 1x and 3.5x. The front camera can capture 4K video at 60 fps. The Realme 16 Pro series will arrive with Realme UI 7.0, which is based on Android 16.

It is vital to note that the offer automatically renews at the end of its term.

In a recent post on X.com, Gemini’s official account offered a 50% discount on the yearly Google AI Pro plan, which is only accessible to new members who have not already purchased the plan through their Google account.

For new members in the United States, the 12-month subscription, which is normally priced at $199.99 (about Rs 17,950), is offered for $99.99 (roughly Rs 9,000).
