Vivo came out with its next-generation foldable, the X Fold 5. Last year, we saw the Vivo X Fold 3 Pro. This year, there are no Pro models at all. The new Vivo foldable features several notable improvements over its predecessor. It’s slimmer and lighter, with a higher IP rating and a bigger battery. It has recently arrived well in India for Rs 149,999.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7, with almost the same specifications, costs 37,000 rupees more than this, and the X Fold 3 Pro was priced at 10,000 rupees more. Does purchasing this foldable smartphone make sense now? This is our review of the Vivo X Fold 5, which we have been using for a while.

Vivo X Fold 5 Review: Design and Display
Slimmer than its predecessor, the Vivo X Fold 5 offers a wide range of functions and is lightweight. With a weight of only 217 g, the X Fold 5 is among the lightest folding phones on the market, guaranteeing an effortless and pleasant experience whether folded or unfolded.
The X Fold 5’s elegance and high-end status are evident in every aspect of its design. A flat, sleek design and a solid-coloured rear cover accentuate the minimalist look. In addition to adding a stylish appearance, exquisite features and a metal frame with slightly elevated edges improve grip.
The rich texture added by the dual-layer back coating makes it as aesthetically beautiful as it is to the touch. It also offers a pleasant grip, which makes using and holding the Vivo X Fold 5 an absolute treat.
With a sturdy carbon fibre hinge that has been tested for hundreds of thousands of folds and is resistant to dust and water, the phone is actually made to last. It has a fantastic IP5X dust protection certification and an IP58 and IP59 water-resistant rating. The outside is equally sturdy. The rear panel is made of a strong and stylish glass fibre, and the outer screen is shielded by second-generation Armor Glass, which provides improved protection against scratches and drops. Because of this, it is a dependable and durable option for any setting.
It is now dustproof and can tolerate high-pressure water jets, and can still stay under 1.5 metres of water for 30 minutes. Therefore, those are all excellent advancements.
Additionally, we really like the backplate that runs from edge to edge with less text for a cleaner design and a thinner ring surrounding the camera island.
The fact that this foldable phone is only offered in Titanium Grey feels restrictive to some consumers who prefer more flexibility. We appreciate a wider range of colours. Saying that, this shade appears more elegant, polished, and subtle.
Additionally, the crease appears to have improved and is barely apparent when opened. As you can see, when closed, it has symmetrical finishing and a sophisticated appearance. It is also really comfortable to hold.
Vivo X Fold 5 can also support itself at any angle between 45 and 150 degrees, which is superior to the foldables from last year and even others.
We did observe one change, though: the dual ultrasonic in-display fingerprint sensors that were included in the X Fold 3 Pro last year have been replaced with a side-mounted fingerprint sensor in the X Fold 5. Additionally, Vivo has replaced the alert slider with a new shortcut button. It can still be used to adjust the sound profile, but you may now program it to carry out other activities or features.
And the displays are precisely the same as before. So there aren’t any significant display enhancements this time around, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing because its screens are already among the best available.
Talking of which, the Vivo X Fold 5 sports a 6.53-inch 8T LTPO external display with 2,748 × 1,172 pixels of resolution and an 8.03-inch 8T LTPO flexible internal display with 2,480 × 2,200 pixels of resolution. Both panels have a refresh rate of 120 Hz, a local peak brightness of 4,500 nits, and a high-frequency PWM dimming rate. Zeiss Master Colour certification and TÜV Rheinland global eye protection 3.0 are included with the panels. Dolby Vision and HDR10+ certifications are also included.
The screen is readable even in direct sunshine, thanks to its 4,500 nits of local peak brightness. While the increased refresh rate ensures smooth browsing, gaming, and video playing, the high-frequency PWM dimming rate reduces eye strain in low-light circumstances. The Zeiss Master Colour certification guarantees true-to-life and accurate colour reproduction. Dolby Vision and HDR10+ support the display’s rich colours, deep blacks, and amazing contrast. Furthermore, you may watch videos from all major streaming providers in the finest quality.
In addition, the PWM dimming rate greatly minimises screen flicker, resulting in reduced eye strain when using the device for extended periods. During our tests, we spent most of our time using the Vivo foldable’s external screen. When we needed to work productively, we used the large internal display.
This foldable phone is equipped with an excellent pair of stereo speakers. We loved watching videos and listening to music on this gadget. The audio output is crisp, balanced, and loud. Simply wonderful.
Vivo X Fold 5 Review: Performance and Cameras
Aside from its ergonomic design and display, the Vivo X Fold 5 is a beast. The gadget is powered by a high-end chipset, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 CPU(which is an older chipset), which can support up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 512GB of UFS4.1 internal storage. This offers smooth multitasking and high performance for anything from demanding games to creative apps.
We now have FunTouch OS 15 over Android 15, and it looks mostly the same as before, with a plethora of personalisation possibilities. When closed up, it feels similar to most other Vivo’s flagship bar-style phones. When unfolded, however, we uncover a few helpful folding features. The app dock displays three recent apps, the same as it did previously. When in an app, there is a taskbar that allows you to easily examine all of your apps, and it may be disabled if necessary. We continue to have a smart screen shift, which automatically turns to the covering screen while you’re in tent mode, much like the predecessor.
Flex mode is still available, which converts the bottom portion of the screen into a control panel. Smart Fold AIOS is a comprehensive productivity suite that offers natural, systematic interaction. It includes the Origin Workbench, Gemini Assistant, Circle to Search, Office Multitasker, AI Captions, Smart Call Assistant, vivo DocMaster, and AI Imaging Studio. It includes features such as Live Text-Air Extract, Gemini Assistant, and Image Enhance.
And while split-screen mode retains all of its previous functionality, there is now something called Origin Workbench, which helps you to swiftly transition between programs. And it’s been far more valuable to us than we could have imagined.
You’ll also be getting four years of major Android OS and Security updates.
This phone has a strong CPU designed for high-end gaming, making it simple to multitask and play games. You may use it as a regular phone for day-to-day tasks while using the larger screen for productive work. It does not overheat, but extended gaming sessions can make it warm, particularly near the camera module. Games such as BGMI, Call of Duty Mobile, and Asphalt operate without difficulty.
AnTuTu Benchmark Results: 19,24,915
This time, Vivo has introduced a significant productivity and convenience function on this phone, allowing for easy and customised device control. Vivo has added a new shortcut button to the X Fold 5, placed above the volume buttons. With a single touch, the tactile button may be configured to turn on the flashlight, launch the camera to capture a brief moment, take notes, start a video, or enable AI captions.
After that, we get to the cameras, and it feels like they’ve taken two steps forward and one step back. However, keep in mind that this phone does not carry the Pro title. Vivo X Fold 5 does offer a professional camera set consisting of a Zeiss-backed triple rear camera configuration led by a 50-megapixel (Sony IMX921) primary sensor, a 50-megapixel (Samsung JN1) ultra-wide camera, and a 50-megapixel (Sony IMX882) periscope telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom capabilities. The gadget also offers telephoto and macro capabilities. A 20-megapixel front-facing camera has been installed on both the outer and main displays for selfies and video calls.
The ultrawide sensor is the same as the one used in the X Fold 3 Pro; however, the primary sensor is now an IMX 921 sensor, which has a larger aperture. The periscope has the same 70 mm focal length for 3x optical zoom, but it employs the IMX 882 sensor. It features a slightly bigger lens and sensor. All three cameras have autofocus, and the primary and periscope still have OIS. The periscope nevertheless has a maximum digital zoom of 100X, but the results are more polished due to post-processing.
The periscope still has a 15 cm minimum focusing distance. But there’s also a super macro mode, and the photographs are a little more detailed this time, and the maximum macro magnification is now 20 times, up from six last year.
However, like with the previous year, the periscope goes back to 3.7X zoom while in portrait mode. Even when we turn off beautify mode, our face still appears a little too smooth.
Whether you utilise the main screen or the cover screen, the selfie cameras are identical and have been trimmed from 32 megapixels to 20 megapixels. Their field of view has expanded, yet they remain within the same aperture.
The Fold 5 also has trouble taking nighttime ultrawide pictures. However, the primary and periscope appear to have improved in low-light conditions, which is probably due to Vivo’s yearly optimisation improvements. It is for this reason that the 100X maximum zoom is much more usable at night than it was previously.
Every sensor on board is capable of recording 4K footage at 60 frames per second. This time, the main camera is also steadier, and although the quality is superb, the dynamic range is the biggest increase. Vivo has made progress in OIS and white balance, but 8K video is still only available with the primary camera.
Regular nighttime ultrawide video recording is exactly as underexposed as it was the previous year. Although the main video is still grainy, exposure appears to have improved, and the periscope footage appears to handle light noise as well as better contrast.
There is also portrait video, although it is only in 1080p resolution, which is disappointing because the X Fold 3 Pro could record 4K cinematic portraits.
And when it comes to selfie portrait videos, which are still limited to 1080p, barely anything has evolved. The positive aspect is that we can record selfies with the rear cameras, which is fantastic. However, being able to record selfies with the rear primary camera is quite helpful, particularly at night.
Switching over to battery power. Vivo X Fold 5 has a massive 6,000 mAh battery, which is probably the biggest battery of any foldable of this size. In contrast, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 is only slightly slimmer at 4,400 mAh.
In our testing, which included binge-watching for camera testing, playing a lot of games, and more, the battery life lasted for a day and a half. On typical usage, however, it can be extended to two days.
One advantage of this foldable phone is that it supports fast charging. Vivo X Fold 5 offers 80-watt wired and 40-watt wireless charging, which is more than the Z Fold 7’s 25-watt wired and 15-watt wireless charging, but somewhat lower than the Pro model from the previous year.
Verdict
The Vivo X Fold 5 is a dependable, fully functional gadget made to be an extension of your hand.
Regardless of fashion trends, its classic style is guaranteed by its polished metal frame and solid-coloured rear. Glass fibre is used to make the back. Second-generation Armor Glass protects the cover screen.
Co-engineered with ZEISS, the triple-camera system produces professional-quality images and videos, and the large battery with lightning-fast wired and wireless charging keeps you charged all day. The viewing experience is intense thanks to the 8.03-inch main display and the 6.53-inch cover screen. Both have excellent colour reproduction and a smooth refresh rate of 120 Hz.
Those who currently own an X Fold 3 Pro are probably not the target market for the X Fold 5. It is best suitable for anyone who is intending to purchase their first Vivo foldable or does not currently have one.

Instagram has dropped new features claiming to help users connect better with friends. The social media app owned by Meta has introduced Reposts, Friend Map, and a ‘Friends’ feed in the Reels tab, out of which two are currently accessible in India. Reposts allow users to reshare public content from their favourite creators, which appears in a new tab on their profile or friends’ recommendations. Friend Map allows users to share their location with friends, while the ‘Friends’ feed under the Reels tab displays content that friends have loved or interacted with.
Instagram has added a new Friends section in the Reels tab, which lets users see what their fellow users are viewing. The update also lets users repost content and includes a Snapchat-like mapping tool. The new map feature, which was inspired by Snapchat’s Snap Map, displays users’ friends’ locations on a map. Users may also repost reels and posts, access a new Friends Tab in Reels, and see what other users have reposted on their profiles. The upgrade is part of Instagram’s continuing attempts to improve its user experience.

Reposts
Reposts enable users to share public reels and feed posts, boosting their interests to friends and followers. Reposts are suggested and kept in a separate tab on the user’s profile for easy access. Reposts are attributed to the original poster, and creators can reach a larger audience if their work is reposted by someone else, even if they do not follow the creator. This feature facilitates sharing and encourages content development.
To repost a reel or post, tap the repost icon, add a note by typing into the thought bubble, and press save.
Users can choose to broadcast their last active location with friends, which can be switched off at any point. The map also allows users to browse content from their friends and favourite creators from interesting locations. Location sharing is disabled unless users opt in, although users may personalise their experience by selecting who they share their location with and not sharing it in certain locations or with specific persons. The location is updated whenever the app is opened or goes back to the background, and users may disable it at any moment. Parents who monitor their kids may customise their location sharing experience on the map, receive notifications when their child puts out their location, and decide if their teen has access to location sharing.
Users can use the location-based map function to find location-specific content, such as friends’ concert stories or reels from local creators. The map displays reels, posts, and stories from individuals you follow, which are visible for 24 hours after they are posted, as well as comments from mutually following people. The functionality is presently accessible in the United States and will be rolled out globally. The map may be accessed at the top of your direct message inbox.
Last but not least, Friends is a new tab in Reels that lets users explore public content and recommendations from friends, as well as initiate conversations about them. Friends, which was released earlier this year, would assist users in identifying reels uploaded and seen by their closest friends. To access Friends, choose the “Friends” tab at the top of Reels and then return to the “Reels” tab. Users can also hide their reel likes and comments, as well as mute activity bubbles for certain persons they follow.

The market for senior safety smartwatches in India just got a smart upgrade. Antara AGEasy, the direct-to-consumer arm of Antara Senior Care, has teamed up with boAt to introduce the Protec Neo smartwatch, a wearable designed to empower India’s ageing population while soothing the nerves of their caregivers.
In This Article
Why Senior Safety Needs a Reboot
Let’s face it, India’s senior population is ballooning faster than your uncle’s WhatsApp forwards. According to the latest JLL-ASLI report, seniors will make up almost 20% of the population by 2050. The 80+ segment alone is set to jump by a whopping 280%. With families getting smaller and cities getting bigger, many elderly Indians find themselves alone for longer stretches. That’s where a wearable like the Protec Neo can make all the difference.
Here’s the headline feature: an Emergency SOS that’s simple enough for even the most tech-cautious seniors. Press and hold the dedicated button for five seconds, and voilà, the watch dials a pre-set emergency contact and sends an SMS with the wearer’s real-time location. And if the call goes unanswered? The live location keeps pinging for up to eight hours, so help is never far behind. This is a first for senior wearables in the Indian market.
Built for Comfort, Designed for Dignity
Co-developed with boAt, the Protec Neo isn’t just smart, it’s thoughtful. The 1.43-inch display is bright and easy to read, and the straps are designed to be gentle on older skin. Bluetooth calling lets seniors stay connected with up to 20 loved ones, hands-free. There’s even a customisable QR tray to store medical profiles, tickets, or payment info for easy access. No more hunting for that pesky medical card or train ticket.
Health Monitoring, From Afar
If you’re a caregiver, you’ll love the Protec Neo’s remote health dashboard. With the watch tracking heart rate, SpO₂, sleep cycles, and more, you can keep an eye on your loved one’s well-being from anywhere. The dashboard makes it easy to act quickly if something seems off. And with a 300 mAh battery promising up to five days on a single charge, there’s no constant nagging to recharge.
Antara AGEasy isn’t stopping at just smartwatches. The brand’s catalogue covers everything from blood pressure monitors to mobility aids and wedge pillows, practical, dignified tools to help seniors live better, not just longer. Their goal? To make “ageing with ease” the new normal, not the exception.
Where to Buy and What’s Next
You’ll find the full Antara AGEasy range, including the Protec Neo, at their flagship store in Gurugram, on their official website, and online marketplaces like Amazon and Flipkart. With over 65 products and 180 SKUs designed for fall prevention, mobility, and chronic condition management, Antara AGEasy aims to be a one-stop shop for senior wellness in India.

When it comes to AI-driven biopharma transformation, ThinkBio.Ai and UST are taking the “dream team” approach, minus the matching jerseys but with a ton of brainpower. In a move that could redefine the digital health landscape, UST, a major player in digital transformation, has inked a strategic partnership with ThinkBio.Ai, the AI-powered solutions trailblazer for biopharmaceutical and healthcare organisations.
In This Article
The Next Leap for Biopharma: R&D Gets a Brain Upgrade
The crux of this partnership? Combining UST’s deep expertise in digital transformation with ThinkBio.Ai’s knack for turning AI into actionable R&D breakthroughs. The plan is simple: deliver smarter, faster, and more effective solutions for biopharma and healthcare organisations struggling with complex data, clinical trial bottlenecks, and the ever-elusive goal of getting better treatments to patients, faster.
AI-driven biopharma transformation isn’t just another buzzword here, it’s front and centre. This collaboration aims to:
Identify optimal treatments through sophisticated data analytics
Rescue failed drugs with smart repurposing or combination therapies
Supercharge clinical trials with biomarker-driven patient stratification and digital twin-enabled matching
That means more hope for patients and fewer dead ends in the lab.
The Secret Sauce: R-COP, BioThinkHub, and a Whole Lot of Data
At the heart of ThinkBio.Ai’s arsenal is its AI-enhanced Research Co-pilot, R-COP, designed to take Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) from dusty spreadsheets to digital dynamism. Fully interoperable and scalable, R-COP injects new intelligence into the daily grind of research, helping organisations make real-time, data-backed decisions.
Meanwhile, BioThinkHub acts as the command centre, drawing from expertly curated proprietary and public datasets. Whether it’s oncology, immunology, neurology, or cardiology, ThinkBio.Ai’s solutions promise to tackle R&D’s trickiest problems with a cocktail of biological and clinical insight, always served with a dash of expert human curation.
Why This Partnership Matters for Healthcare and Beyond
The strategic alliance is not just a marriage of convenience. As Pradeep Palazhi, Founder and CEO of ThinkBio.Ai, puts it, “This partnership will bring our unique AI and knowledge-based transformation products for Research and Discovery to UST’s digital transformation ecosystem. Together, we’ll help clients and partners stay ahead in a well-regulated, competitive landscape.”
Anu Koshy, Life Science cluster leader at UST, agrees, adding, “We will integrate ThinkBio.Ai’s AI-powered R&D transformation with UST’s Gen AI strengths across pharma, biotech, and medical devices. This will drive innovation, accelerate time-to-value, and deliver measurable impact for our customers.”
What’s in It for Biopharma, Healthcare Providers, and Patients?
Let’s break it down:
Faster Drug Development: AI-powered insights could help bring new treatments to market sooner.
Better Clinical Trials: Smarter trial matching and biomarker analysis mean fewer delays, lower costs, and improved outcomes.
Deeper Insights: Access to BioThinkHub and R-COP gives R&D teams the edge in identifying trends and opportunities.
If you’ve ever wondered when AI would truly start making a dent in drug development, this is a story worth following. By pairing advanced digital transformation with cutting-edge AI for healthcare and biopharma, UST and ThinkBio.Ai are not just chasing the future, they’re building it. It’s a rare case where the partnership itself feels as innovative as the solutions it promises.
Apple users have received a warning from the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) over a number of security flaws in their product ecosystem. In order to reduce potential risks, the team advises updating devices right now.
Apple users are being advised to install the most recent security updates to iOS 18.6, iPadOS 18.6, and macOS 15.6 in order to patch significant vulnerabilities and stop active attacks, according to a high-severity alert released by India’s cybersecurity organisation, CERT-In. Several security vulnerabilities that impact iPhones, iPads, Macs, and Apple Watches are highlighted in the warning. Users should upgrade their devices right away to prevent any dangers related to these vulnerabilities, according to the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In).
In This Article
What Apple products are at risk?
CERT-In claims to have discovered vulnerabilities in Macs, iPhones, iPads, Watches, and visionOS devices that are especially worrisome for users using outdated software. Versions of macOS older than Sequoia 15.6, Sonoma 14.7.7, or Ventura 13.7.7, iOS versions prior to 18.6, iPads prior to iPadOS 17.7.9/18.6, Apple Watch running watchOS versions prior to 11.6, and Apple TV and Vision Pro devices running tvOS or visionOS prior to 18.6/2.6 are among the impacted versions.
Technical vulnerabilities such as buffer overflows, use-after-free problems, wrong input validation, and logic errors, the warning states, may enable attackers to obtain unauthorised access, run arbitrary code, take away or change confidential information, escalate privileges, or initiate denial-of-service attacks. With carefully constructed requests or data, these dangers may be remotely exploited.
In order to protect their data and devices, those who use Apple devices are being cautioned by CERT-In to update to the most recent software upgrades. In order to reduce threats, the agency stresses the significance of frequent updates and cautious online conduct. These upgrades are available to users via Apple’s official support channels or device settings.

Investors seem to think so.

Big Names, Bigger Bets
The impressive round attracted heavyweight strategic investors like a16z Speedrun, Bandai Namco 021 Fund, GFR Fund, IVC Japan, and Neowiz. Not to be left behind, notable Web3 investors including Polygon Ventures, Sandeep Nailwal, and Decentralised.co also joined the party. SuperGaming’s diverse backing underscores global confidence in its vision and execution.
Ed Fries, Co-Founder of Xbox and a key investor, praised SuperGaming’s knack for delivering tangible results: “In a market crowded with demos, SuperGaming has shipped games, proving execution and deep understanding of hyperlocal markets like India.”
At the heart of SuperGaming’s growth lies SuperPlatform, a robust SaaS solution crafted with Google Cloud. SuperPlatform facilitates AI-assisted game development, monetisation tools, and advanced analytics, helping developers build and scale multiplayer games even on lower-end devices. This platform positions SuperGaming not just as a game creator but also as an essential backbone for emerging global developers.
Global Ambitions Start with Latin America
The fresh capital is earmarked to expand SuperGaming’s marquee title, “Indus Battle Royale,” internationally, starting with Latin America in collaboration with esports giant LOUD.GG. LATAM’s vibrant gaming community makes it the perfect springboard for global dominance.
Bandai Namco 021 Fund investor Natsuhiro Maruyama emphasised this strategic partnership, highlighting the synergy between Bandai’s global IP expertise and SuperGaming’s nuanced understanding of local gaming ecosystems.
Roby John, CEO and Co-Founder of SuperGaming, remarked, “India is shifting from merely consuming games to actively shaping gaming innovation. This investment accelerates that transformation.” Indeed, SuperGaming’s Indus Battle Royale already boasts accolades, including Google Play’s “Best Made in India” award for 2024, reinforcing its capacity to produce globally competitive titles.
Navigating Web3 Waters
SuperGaming isn’t just playing safe; it’s pushing boundaries in the evolving Web3 gaming landscape. Early experiments like “Tower Conquest: Metaverse Edition” provided valuable insights, and now, through strategic partnerships with B3 GameChain, SuperGaming aims to integrate blockchain-based experiences for players worldwide seamlessly.
Powering the Future
As SuperGaming leverages its new funds to expand globally and deepen investments in technology, one thing is clear: India’s gaming scene is no longer just playing catch-up; it’s setting benchmarks. For gamers and developers alike, this means more exciting, innovative gaming experiences on the horizon.
In my view, SuperGaming isn’t just another studio riding the gaming wave. It’s a visionary player actively rewriting the global gaming narrative from the heart of India. Time to watch this space, because this game is just getting started.
WhatsApp has introduced a new feature called Safety Overview, which allows users to review group information for protection against scams. The feature, which is part of WhatsApp’s ongoing efforts to protect users from scams, has banned over 6.8 lakh accounts linked to scam centres. The Safety Overview provides key information about the group and tips to stay safe from phishing and scams. Notifications stay muted until the user confirms staying in the group. WhatsApp is also testing alerts for chats with unknown contacts.
Scammers frequently use people’s generosity, trust, and desire to assist, typically offering low-risk investment possibilities or easy money. To assist users in avoiding fraud methods, WhatsApp is providing a new safety overview for group messaging. The safety overview will notify you if someone adds you to a group you are unfamiliar with, as well as provide crucial information and safety suggestions. You may leave the group without reading the chat, and if you identify the group, you can see the chat for context. Notifications from the group will be turned off unless you want to stay.
Scammers may try to contact you on the internet before requesting you to connect with them on private messengers such as WhatsApp. To counteract this method, various ways are being tried to warn individuals to stop before getting involved. For example, they are looking into techniques to warn users when they start a discussion with someone who is not in their contacts, offering more context for informed decision-making.
WhatsApp found and banned approximately 6.8 million accounts related to criminal scam centres in the first half of this year as part of its proactive efforts to protect users from scams, based on investigation findings and enforcement activities.
According to the newsroom post, WhatsApp revealed that OpenAI and other IT titans have blocked fraud attempts connected to a criminal scam centre in Cambodia. The scammers utilised ChatGPT to produce a text message with a link to a WhatsApp chat, and then drove the victim to Telegram to like TikTok videos. They established trust by discussing the target’s prospective earnings and then urged them to deposit funds into a cryptocurrency account as the following assignment. The scammers used ChatGPT to generate the initial text message, which directed the recipient to Telegram.
Aside from that, it is important to pause, question, and confirm before reacting to suspicious or strange messages. Take the time to analyse if the number is familiar or appears real. Check the request’s logic, whether it appears too good to be true, whether it offers unreasonably high pay, or if it requires immediate response. If someone claims to be a friend or family member, contact them directly, preferably through another means of communication, such as calling them on their phone or using their known phone number.
WhatsApp is testing a feature that would allow users to send messages to friends who do not have an account, although this function may not support sending photos. The functionality is planned to be released to testers in a future version.
WhatsApp is creating a new feature known as ‘Guest Chats‘, which would allow users to send messages to non-account users. The functionality is still under development and has not yet been made available to Android devices as part of the company’s Google Play Beta program. Currently, users cannot send media assets such as photographs and videos to non-account users. The functionality was discovered in development in the newest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.25.22.13 upgrade. It is uncertain when ‘Guest Chats’ will be released to beta testers.
According to the posted screenshots, WhatsApp will include a feature dubbed “guest chats” that would allow users to communicate with non-WhatsApp users. These conversations, which are set to be published in a future update, are intended to give an easy method for users to communicate with others who do not have a complete WhatsApp account within its ecosystem.
WhatsApp users may start a guest chat by inviting one of their contacts who does not have the app installed. The receiver is sent a direct link that allows them to communicate with the creator. Users may share this link by text, email, or other social media platforms, allowing them to communicate without having to register an account or download WhatsApp.
Guest chats have restrictions as compared to normal conversations, such as the inability to send media files such as images, videos, and GIFs, as well as support for voice or video messaging and initiating calls. Additionally, they only work one-on-one, barring group chats.
This is unlike third-party chats, which need an external developer to connect with WhatsApp users. Guests’ chats run within WhatsApp’s ecosystem, offering a uniform user experience controlled by the platform, as opposed to third-party chats, which rely on external developers.
WhatsApp’s guest chat feature protects privacy and security by employing end-to-end encryption, restricting access to just the two people in the discussion. This assures that only the two parties can see the messages, and that no one else, including WhatsApp, has access to the content. The guest may access the chat via an interface similar to WhatsApp Web, which allows them to create a private and encrypted chat session without the need for a separate app download.
