As Apple’s big production hits the theatres this week, the tech giant is leaving no stone unturned in promoting it. Promotions for ‘F1’, Apple’s new movie starring Brad Pitt and Kerry Condon, have even reached the Wallet app, much to the annoyance of iPhone users. While it isn’t as bad as Apple pushing U2’s album to everyone on iTunes (without giving them the option to delete it), users still don’t want to see ads disguised as push notifications on a phone they paid more than $1,000 for. Luckily, there is a way to turn off all promotions on the Apple Wallet app. This option is only available on iOS 26, which is currently in its Developer Beta phase.

What’s new on iOS 26?

Apple unveiled the new iOS 26 at WWDC 25 earlier this month, releasing the first Developer Beta version of the OS on the same day. Interestingly, Apple kicked off the event with a promotion for F1. While we’re yet to see how Apple’s new production does at the box office, its new mobile OS has been treated to a largely positive reception. The new ‘Liquid Glass’ design language feels like the start of something new from Apple. While users were perplexed by the transparency of the Control Centre rendering it unreadable, Apple has fixed this issue in the second Developer Beta version of the OS.

While there may not be an abundance of feature upgrades on iOS 26, the new additions are not insignificant. The pre-reserve window for upcoming Galaxy Z foldable phones is now open: Details

Samsung will be announcing the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Z Flip 7, Galaxy Buds Core, and Galaxy Watch 8 series globally on July 9, with pre-orders available through the official e-store, as well as early deliveries.

Samsung will hold its Galaxy Unpacked event on July 9, presenting an array of products such as foldable smartphones, TWS earbuds, and smartwatches. Pre-reservations are now available in India, with buyers eligible for early delivery and other incentives. The event is expected to reveal the Galaxy Z Fold 7, Z Flip 7, and Buds Core series.

According to the company, customers in India can pre-reserve the devices for Rs 2,000, which will grant them benefits worth up to Rs 5,999 on purchase and early delivery. Pre-reservation can be done through Samsung.com, Samsung Exclusive Stores, Amazon.in, Flipkart.com, and leading retail outlets across India.

The Galaxy Unpacked Event will begin at 10 a.m. ET, 3 p.m. BST, and 4 p.m. CET (7:30 p.m. IST) and will be live streamed on Samsung.com, Samsung Newsroom India, and Samsung India’s YouTube, as well as in person.

Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 are expected to have storage capacities of 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB.

According to reports, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 will cost EUR 2,227.71 (about Rs 2,23,000) in Italy for the 256GB model and EUR 2,309.03 (about Rs 2,31,100) for the 512GB model.

Whereas, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 with 512GB of storage will probably cost EUR 1,425.51 (around Rs 1,43,000).

The Z Fold 7 is slated to be available in Blue Shadow, Jet Black, and Silver Shadow colours, while the Flip 7 will be available in Blue Shadow, Coral Red, and Jet Black.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 could feature a slimmer profile, ranging from 3.9 mm to 4.5 mm, than the Galaxy Z Fold 6, which could reduce overall weight for better ergonomics.

The Galaxy Z Flip 7 is said to be a slimmer, lighter version of the Galaxy Z Flip 6, with a larger edge-to-edge cover display and a 3.4-inch manila folder-style outer screen. It will run on an overclocked Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy processor, with a main core clocked at 4.47 GHz. Rumours say that an Exynos 2500 SoC may be used. The phone may keep the 4,000 mAh battery from its predecessor. The dual camera system will have a 50-megapixel primary sensor and a 12-megapixel ultrawide lens.

Over the years, Lava has carved out a decent market share in the entry-level and budget smartphone segment. Boldly wearing the ‘Made in India’ tag on its sleeve, Lava can offer highly competitive prices by manufacturing its smartphones locally. Its newest offering, Shark, is one of the most affordable 5G smartphones in India right now. It rocks a 6nm Unisoc T765 octa-core 5G chip under its hood and runs Android 15 out of the box. We used it for a week to find out if it really moves the needle in the entry-level smartphone segment. Here is our in-depth Lava Shark 5G review.

Lava Shark 5G Review: Design and Display

Here’s what you get inside Lava Shark 5G’s retail box:

Lava Shark 5G takes heavy design inspiration for its back panel from the iPhone 12. The two camera sensors are vertically stacked inside a square plastic module with rounded edges. The single LED flash is also placed in this cutout. The flat plastic back panel is glossy and easily registers smudges and fingerprints. We recommend putting the clear plastic cover provided in the box to use.

The plastic frame houses the volume rocker keys and the side button on its right edge. The side button also doubles as the fingerprint sensor. It is fast, snappy, and accurate. At the bottom lies the 3.5mm headphone jack, microphone, USB Type-C port, and speaker grille. The hybrid SIM tray is placed on left edge.

The 6.75-inch IPS LCD panel has a 90Hz refresh rate and is surrounded by sizeable bezels that get thicker around the chin. The selfie camera is housed in a waterdrop notch, which looks pretty dated. The display reaches an optimum brightness indoors, but struggles with legibility issues under direct sunlight. On the ‘bright’ side, its touch response is decent, and the browsing experience it offers is pretty good.

We used the Lava Shark 5G to stream content across multiple OTT platforms during the review period. The LCD panel, while not as punchy and vibrant as its AMOLED counterparts, provided a decent viewing experience. The images were balanced and detailed. While the colours did not pop out like they do on AMOLED displays, they didn’t fall completely flat either. The sound quality from the single, bottom-firing speaker was surprisingly good, but it wasn’t loud enough to sufficiently overcome the background noise of the ceiling fan.

Lava Shark 5G Review: Performance and Cameras

Lava Shark 5G is powered by the Unisoc T765 processor. This octa-core chipset is built on a 6nm process. The smartphone is available in a single 4GB RAM + 64GB storage variant, priced at Rs 7,999. With a microSD card, the storage of this device can be expanded up to 1TB. The ‘Expanded Memory’ feature allows the user to boost the RAM of the device by another 4GB. The device does this by using free ROM space.

On the Geekbench 6 app, the Lava Shark 5G scored 739 points in the single-core test and 1,900 points in the multi-core test. The smartphone does a good job of handling routine tasks like calling, instant messaging, web browsing, and media streaming. We did encounter some odd issues (like the phone being unable to launch Google Chrome until it was restarted), but they were few and far between. Apps did take some time to load, and multitasking proved to be a demanding ask at times, but that is something to be expected from an entry-level device.

Lava Shark 5G can run games like Call of Duty Mobile, but he gameplay is not up to the mark. For starters, the touch response of the LCD panel isn’t smooth enough to keep up with the demanding action of first-person shooter games. Additionally, frame drops are all too common on this device. However, games like Candy Crush Saga are handled quite well.

Handling the OS duties on this smartphone is stock Android 15 OS. While this isn’t the full version that you get on midrange and flagship devices, it is perfectly suited for this phone as it is light and breezy. Everything from screen transitions to the app opening and closing animations is well optimised. You get a good set of customisation options for the home screen and lock screen. The user experience becomes much smoother with smart gestures offered by the OS. To top it off, there is absolutely no bloatware on this device.

With a massive 5,000mAh battery pack to power us through the day, we did not experience any battery anxiety while using the Lava Shark 6G during the review period. The smartphone did not have any trouble lasting a day of heavy use on a full charge. With over 5 hours of screen time at the end of the day, we were left with a 20% charge in the tank. Even though the smartphone supports 18W wired charging, it ships with a 10W adapter in the box. It took us almost 2 hours to fully charge the smartphone.

Entry-level smartphones aren’t known for their camera systems, but the Lava Shark 5G performs well in this regard. The 13MP rear camera takes decent pictures in outdoor daylight conditions. These images showcase good colours and dynamic range. While they aren’t as sharp as images taken with a midrange device, they are still passable. However, in limited lighting conditions, this camera really struggles to produce good results. The Night Mode doesn’t do much to improve things either. The images are dark, gloomy, and very noisy.

The portrait shots taken by the primary shooter are bright and colourful, but they do lack focus and background blur. If you want good portraits from your smartphone’s camera, you will need to expand your budget. The 5MP front-facing camera takes decent selfies, but they are visibly soft. On top of that, the smartphone applies skin-smoothing effects to selfies, which we don’t like. This camera can record 1,080p, 720p, and 480p videos at 30fps. Meanwhile, the rear camera can shoot 4K, 1,080p, and 720p videos at 30fps.

Verdict

The Lava Shark 5G is a good, reliable option at Rs 8,000. Its flat form factor and clean design give it the appearance of a premium smartphone. However, the waterdrop notch on the display feels dated. The media-streaming experience is the biggest asset of this device. The display is bright and vibrant, with a smooth response rate to boot. While the multitasking performance of the device may be a bit iffy, it does a good job of handling everyday tasks like calling, texting, and web browsing. The images taken by the primary shooter in optimum lighting conditions aren’t too bad either. To tie things up nicely, the 5,000mAh battery pack offers an all-day battery life on this device.

Amazon India has launched its diagnostics service in six Indian cities, which include over 450 PIN codes. Customers may use the Amazon app to pick up test samples from their doorsteps, book lab tests, arrange appointments, and view digital reports.  Test samples can be gathered from clients in less than 60 minutes, and routine tests will generate digital reports within six hours.

Amazon Diagnostics aims to make healthcare more accessible, reliable, and convenient. It enables users to book lab tests, schedule appointments, and get digital reports through the Amazon app. 

As of now, the service, launched in collaboration with Orange Health Labs, will be available in Bengaluru, Delhi, Gurgaon, Noida, Mumbai, and Hyderabad.

According to the firm, it would incorporate high-quality, doctor-verified lab testing into the Amazon app, allowing users to access diagnostic services from the comfort of their own homes.

The platform seeks to address customer concerns such as high wait times, variable service quality, and access gaps in preventive care. “With this launch, Amazon customers will now get access to complete end-to-end healthcare services, spanning from tele-consultation, delivery of medicines, and accredited testing, all under Amazon Medical,” the Amazon blog post said.

Besides this, Amazon is also set to launch its much-awaited Prime Day 2025 Sale in the country next month. The sale will start on July 12, at midnight and will go on till July 14 at 11:59 PM IST. During the three-day sale, Prime members can get benefits from bank offers, discounts on electronic products, smartphones, Televisions, Laptops, Tablets, as well as audio devices.

Samsung has scheduled its Galaxy Unpacked 2025 event for July 9, at which it will introduce its latest generation of foldable devices. The event is set to take place in New York, where Samsung is likely to debut the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7. The event is also expected to include the unveiling of the Galaxy Watch 8 series and the previously announced Galaxy Buds Core.

According to a company announcement, Samsung Galaxy Unpacked 2025 will be held on July 9 in Brooklyn, New York, and will showcase the latest additions to the Galaxy range. The Galaxy Unpacked Event will begin at 10 a.m. ET, 3 p.m. BST, and 4 p.m. CET (7:30 p.m. IST), and will be live streamed on  Samsung.com, Samsung Newsroom India, and Samsung India’s YouTube, as well as in person.

According to reports, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 will be more expensive than their predecessors when they arrive.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Z Flip 7 have been listed on an Italian online retailing site under the codenames Q7 and B7, revealing their expected prices.

According to reports, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 will cost EUR 2,227.71 (about Rs 2,23,000) in Italy for the 256GB model and EUR 2,309.03 (about Rs 2,31,100) for the 512GB model.

On the other hand, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7 with 512GB of storage will probably cost EUR 1,425.51 (around Rs 1,43,000).

Recent leaks about the upcoming Galaxy Z foldables have highlighted important features and colour options.

Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7 are expected to have storage capacities of 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB. The Z Fold 7 is slated to be available in Blue Shadow, Jet Black, and Silver Shadow colours, while the Flip 7 will be available in Blue Shadow, Coral Red, and Jet Black.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 appears to feature a slimmer profile, ranging from 3.9mm to 4.5mm, than the Galaxy Z Fold 6, which could reduce overall weight for better ergonomics.

The Galaxy Z Flip 7 is rumoured to be a slimmer, lighter version of the Galaxy Z Flip 6, with a larger edge-to-edge cover display and a 3.4-inch manila folder-style outer screen. It will run on an overclocked Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy processor, with a main core clocked at 4.47GHz. Rumours say that an Exynos 2500 SoC may be used. The phone may keep the 4,000mAh battery from its predecessor. The dual camera system will have a 50-megapixel primary sensor and a 12-megapixel ultrawide lens.

Xiaomi’s subsidiary Poco is all set to announce a new smartphone in the Indian market today. The company will be unveiling Poco F7 5G, featuring a brand new design. The smartphone will have a metal middle frame with Gorilla Glass 7i on the back and display. It will have a 7,550mAh battery that supports 90W fast charging. Furthermore, the phone will be powered by the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 SoC. It also has a dual back camera arrangement with a 50-megapixel primary sensor and optical image stabilisation.

Poco F7 5G Design, Specifications

The Poco F7 5G commercial teasers show a black and silver dual-tone finish with the words “Limited Edition” etched on the back panel. The phone has a vertically positioned elliptical back camera module with two sensors, a pill-shaped LED flash, and a 50-megapixel primary sensor with optical image stabilisation (OIS). The Snapdragon logo is also visible on the panel, referring to the device’s Snapdragon chipset.

The eye-tracking technology recognises gamers’ eyes even when they are wearing glasses, resulting in a comfortable and immersive gaming experience.

The Odyssey 3D monitor incorporates three key technologies: eye tracking, view mapping, and a lenticular lens. A stereo camera monitors real-time user motions, allowing for eye tracking. The cameras collect images in a similar manner to human eyes, allowing for precise 3D images even as the user moves.

The Odyssey 3D monitor employs a technology known as view mapping to calculate pixel positioning for each eye and reconstruct a single image. The Samsung Galaxy S24 FE 5G is now selling at a discounted price on Amazon, Samsung.com and Flipkart. The device was launched in India last year at a starting price of Rs 59,999. To further sweeten the deal, the e-commerce platform is offering additional exchange offers, and no-cost EMI options are available for buyers. The Galaxy AI-powered device features a 6.7-inch full-HD+ AMOLED screen, a 50-megapixel main camera, and a 4,700mAh battery, all powered by the company’s advanced AI technology.

On Amazon, the Samsung Galaxy S24 FE 5G is available at a discounted price of Rs 36,659 for the 8GB RAM with 128GB storage variant, down from the original launch price of Rs 59,999. On the other hand, the 8GB RAM with 256GB storage is available at a reduced price of Rs 42,483. The 256GB model was launched at Rs 65,999.

On Samsung.com, the 128GB and 256GB storage models now come at Rs 37,999 and Rs 43,999. Whereas on Flipkart, the device is much more affordable, priced at Rs 35,999 and Rs 42,999, respectively.

The e-commerce platform is offering additional offers like bank deals, EMI transactions and exchange discounts as well.
