Indian tourist spots to get Wi-Fi hostpots soon, courtesy BSNL

Next time you visit Taj Mahal or the Qutub Minar, just check if you get access to free Wi-Fi over there. Yes, as per recent reports, the Bharat Sanchal Nagar Limited (BSNL) is investing Rs 7,000 crore for setting up Wi-Fi hotspots at different tourist spots across the country, and Taj Mahal and Qutub Minar could be among them. Anupam Shrivasatva, Chairman and managing director of BSNL revealed this while speaking at one of the events and told reporters that Wi-Fi is an obvious choice for BSNL going forward. So, how would BSNL be going forward with the implementation? The government  organisation would take help from its recently added partner in the project, QuadGen Wireless. Together, they will integrate 3G, 4G networks so that customer can be seamlessly transferred to Wi-Fi. The idea is to get 2,500 Wi-Fi hotspots up and running by end of this financial year.

Aircel users will now enjoy free incoming calls when roaming in these 5 southern states

Aircel started its operations in the country with a bang, but it never managed to win over as many consumers in Northern India as it did in the South. They have announced free incoming calls on roaming for its consumers in Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu and Kerala. The new offer is named, ‘Five States, One Rate’ and it will be applicable starting from today; i.e. 11th June 2015. As part of this offer, Aircel customers in southern India will incur no incoming call charges while outgoing calls will be charged at 1 paise/second for both local and STD calls. Commenting on the launch of this offer, Anupam Vasudev, chief marketing officer, Aircel, said, “The five states -witness a huge amount of business and leisure travelling and given the porous borders between these states, we did not want our customers to restrict themselves in any manner while using our services.”

ZTE launches 4G enabled smartphone Blade Qlux 4G for Rs 4,999 in India

ZTE the Chinese smartphone manufacturer has launched yet another budget Android smartphone dubbed as Blade Qlux 4G for the Indian market. The smartphone comes with 4G support and will be exclusively available through Amazon at a price tag of Rs 4,999. The customers can purchase the device from the online retailer from 16 June, 2015. The Blade Qlux 4G features a 4.5-inch IPS display with 854×480 pixels resolution. The smartphone comes with dual SIM functionality and run on Android 4.4 KitKat operating system which is upgradable to 5.0 Lollipop version with the Amigo UI running on top. The device is powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6732M paired with 1GB of RAM. The smartphone offers 8GB of internal storage which can be expanded up to 32GB using microSD card. The Blade Qlux 4G sports an 8.0-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a 5.0-megapixel front facing camera to facilitate video calling. The Indian smartphone manufacturer WickedLeak has launched its first Windows 8 tablet called Wammy Hero in the India market. The company has priced the device for Rs 8,990 and it is available on its official website. Talking about the specifications, the WickedLeak Wammy Hero features an 8-inch display with 800×1280 pixels resolution and 178 degree wide viewing angles. The tablet runs on Windows 8.1 operating system and is powered by a 1.33GHz quad-core Intel Atom Z3735F processor. The device offers 1GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage which can be further expanded to 32GB via microSD card. The Chinese smartphone manufacturer Gionee has expanded its E series of smartphone with the launch of Elife E8. The device flaunts a 6-inch display with 2560×1440 pixels resolution protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. The dual SIM smartphone runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system topped with the Amigo UI of the company. Powering the Elife E8 is a 2GHz octa-core MediaTek Helio X 10 (MT6795) processor coupled with 3GB of RAM. The internal storage of the device accounts to 64GB which can be further expanded to 128GB.
