The CEO of iQOO India said that Origin OS 6, which is based on Android 16, will be available soon for iQOO smartphone models in India. The new operating system will take over the Funtouch OS 15 skin, which is presently based on Android 15. It is unknown whether older iQOO and Vivo devices introduced in India would also be updated to OriginOS 6. In China, Vivo and its sub-brand phones run the company’s Origin OS; therefore, the company appears to be introducing the same user experience to India.

Vivo, a Chinese smartphone manufacturer, has announced a change to a new operating system called Origin OS in India, which will launch as Origin OS 6 based on Android 16. This update switches from Funtouch OS to a more user-friendly interface. Vivo’s sub-brand iQOO has confirmed the change, with CEO Nipun Marya claiming that the new experience would make interactions more seamless than before. He took to X.com to make the announcement, which says, “A new chapter begins with OriginOS 6, designed to make every swipe, tap, and interaction smoother than ever.”

In India, Vivo is expected to introduce Origin OS in October to improve user interface customisation and advance the native AI race. The X300 series is likely to bring the OS to India, and iQOO may release phones with the new skin, possibly with the iQOO 15.

Vivo intends to launch OS 6, which is based on Android 16, in China on October 10. The upcoming Vivo X300 and Vivo X300 Pro may be the first smartphones to use the new Android 16 skin.

According to a purported Vivo India employee, the Android 16-based upgrade would be implemented soon enough, with high-end smartphones receiving the update first, followed by mid-range and affordable handsets.
