Step 1: Launch the TikTok app on your smartphone.

Step 2: Open the video your want to duet with.

Step 3: Hit the share icon on the right side of the screen.

Step 5: Choose a layout for your duet video. Here are the 4 options: Side by Side, Picture in Picture, Top and Bottom, and Greenscreen.

Step 6: Add a filter to your video.

Step 7: Hit the red button to record your part of the duet. Tap the red tick mark when you’re done.

Step 8: In the following window use the editing tools to add effects, voiceover, text, and more to your video. Tap on ‘Next’ to proceed.

Step 9: Add a caption, location, and hashtags, and hit ‘Post’.

Your duet video will be posted to your profile.

If the original poster has turned off the duet option for their video, you can still create a duet using a quick workaround. First, you will need to create your part of the duet and save it on your phone. Here are the steps you need to follow to stitch it with the original video.

Step 1: Open Kapwing’s Video Collage Maker on your web browser.

Step 2: Select a 1:1 aspect ratio from the video options.

Step 3: Click on ‘Add media’ and upload your part of the duet.

Step 4: Drag your video to one end and make sure it doesn’t take up more than half the canvas.

Step 5: Now, launch the TikTok app and select the video you want to duet.

Step 6: Tap on ‘Share’ and copy the link to the TikTok video.

Step 7: Go back to the Kapwing editor and click on ‘Add media’.

Step 8: Paste the link to the TikTok video.

Step 9: Drag the video to the other end of the canvas.

Step 10: Click on ‘Export project’ and select ‘Export as mp4’.

Step 11: Launch the TikTok app again and post your duet.
