Bigg Boss OTT is set to make a return this year for its second season. For those unaware of the reality show, Bigg Boss OTT follows the same format as its television counterpart, but with a few twists. As the name suggests, Bigg Boss OTT can only be watched online. The first season, hosted by Karan Johar, was available to stream on Voot. The show producers have revealed that Salman Khan will host Bigg Boss OTT Season 2. The show will premiere on June 17.

The first season of Bigg Boss OTT went live on Voot. Since it’s an OTT-only show, viewers get 24×7 coverage of the house. A special 1-hour episode is curated at the end of each day. This is similar to the TV version of Bigg Boss where viewers can watch all the major highlights of each day.

With Salman Khan confirmed as the host of Bigg Boss OTT Season 2, the scale of production is expected to be much bigger. Recent teaser drops hint towards the audience playing an active part in the proceedings of the house. The producers also confirmed that this season of Bigg Boss OTT will be available for streaming exclusively on the Jio Cinema app. Voot and Jio Cinema are currently undergoing a merger, which means that the latter will gain the streaming rights to Bigg Boss as well.

Recently Jio Cinema its premium plan for exclusive Hollywood content. At Rs 999 per year, Jio Cinema subscribers can get access to HBO MAX and WB content. HBO terminated its streaming partnership with Hotstar earlier this year. Instead of launching its streaming platform, MAX, in India, the streaming giant partnered with Jio Cinema to bring its content to India. Jio Premium subscribers can now watch shows like The Last Of Us, Succession, and Game of Thrones. Jio Cinema’s premium plan currently covers Hollywood content only. Viewers will be able to watch Bigg Boss OTT Season 2 on the platform for free.

Conclusion

After the mild reception received by Season 1, the second iteration of Bigg Boss OTT is expected to do much better, largely due to Salman Khan replacing Karan Johar as the host. The lack of a paywall will boost the numbers as well. While this year’s participants have not been confirmed yet, the internet is abuzz with rumours of Pooja Gor, Munawar Faruqui, Jiya Shankar, Umar Riaz, and Awez Darbar being on the show.
