Can you schedule a text message directly on your iPhone?

Scheduling a text is one of the features that is often missing from common messaging apps like WhatsApp and iMessage. While those platforms may incorporate that feature in future, right now your options are pretty limited. Luckily, Apple’s Shortcut app lets you schedule a text and send it to however many recipients you want.

You can also use third-party apps like Moxy Messenger, Scheduled, and Carrier Messaging for this task. These apps are totally legitimate and can be downloaded from the App Store. However, modded apps like GB WhatsApp that claim to offer this feature are very much illegal and we do not recommend downloading them.

Use a third-party app

The downside of using the Shortcuts app to send a scheduled text is that it repeats the action every month. If you don’t remember to delete the automation after the message has been sent, it will lead to some very confused recipients. Luckily, there are some third-party apps that offer a solution to this problem.

However, there is some small catch. Most free third-party apps remind you to send the text instead of sending the text itself. Reminderbase has the option to send texts at a scheduled time, but only through virtual numbers. If you want to schedule a text message on your iPhone and send it from your number, you will need to subscribe to the Scheduled app.
