How can you view multiple participants in Google Meet?

Google Meet offers different view options to accommodate multiple participants in small windows.

Google Meet is one of the most widely used applications for video calls and conferences. With its handy features like live captioning and audio and video preview screen, it gives tough competition to apps like Zoom and Microsoft Teams.

Google Meet allows meetings to have several participants. For effective communication, you must be able to view everyone involved in the meeting. Google Meet offers different view options to accommodate multiple participants in small windows. Using this feature, you can focus on the person you’re listening to or interacting with.

How can you use Google Meet’s Tiled View?

Google Meet’s Tiles View enables you to view multiple participants in the meeting. Here is how you can enable it.

  • Click the three dots located on the bottom right of the screen.

  • A pop will appear listing several options. Click Change layout.
  • You will get four options to choose from, namely, Auto, Tiled, Spotlight, and Sidebar.
  • Select the Tiled option.

  • You may use the slider to choose the number of tiles you wish to see simultaneously. Google Meet allows you to have as many as 49 tiles on your screen.
  • Close the Change layout Window.

How can you use Google Meet’s Sidebar View? 

Google Meet’s Sidebar is useful when the meeting consists of a small number of participants. The Sidebar displays other participants in small tiles. To switch to the Sidebar View, follow these steps.

  • Click the three dots located on the bottom right of the screen.

  • A pop will appear listing several options. Click Change layout.
  • You will get four options to choose from, namely, Auto, Tiled, Spotlight, and Sidebar.
  • Select the Sidebar option.

It must be noted that Sidebar does not allow you to choose the number of tiles.

What do other options in Google Meet’s Change Layout window stand for?

Google Meet’s Change Layout window offers four options to choose from, namely, Auto, Tiled, Spotlight, Sidebar. The Tiled and Spotlight help you view multiple participants simultaneously. The remaining two are as follows.

  • Auto: This option usually displays two participants. However, if the meeting consists of more participants, the mode automatically displays more tiles. The number of tiles depends on the size of each tile.
  • Spotlight: This mode displays only the active speaker on the screen. This feature is useful in those meetings that have only one dedicated speaker.
