Amazon Now is extending its service to more cities in India to compete with Blinkit, Swiggy Instamart and Zepto, with the aim of covering 100 cities across the country. The fast delivery service by Amazon is already active in Mumbai, Delhi-NCR and Bengaluru with a promise of quick 10-minute delivery via micro-fulfilment centres (MFCs). It offers a wide selection of things, from groceries, personal care products, fashion, beauty products, and small gadgets.

The company announced in its latest blog post that it is massively expanding its ultra-fast delivery service, Amazon Now, to 100 cities across India. In addition to the major locations already served, like Mumbai, Delhi-NCR and Bengaluru, customers in many cities, including Pune, Hyderabad, Chennai, Kolkata, Jaipur, Lucknow, Kanpur, Chandigarh, Ahmedabad, Meerut, Mysore, Panipat, Kochi, Amritsar, Mangalore and Vizag, will also have access to these services. To see whether Amazon Now is available in your location, launch the Amazon app and look for the ‘lightning’ Now icon on the top banner.

To support this expansion, the firm will invest in its fulfilment infrastructure by adding more than 1,000 micro-fulfilment centres (MFCs). Such strategic development not only seeks to increase the efficiency of deliveries but also provides an opportunity for more than 16,000 farmers to sell their goods directly on the Amazon Now platform.

This initiative is part of Amazon’s bigger commitment of over Rs 2,800 crore (approximately USD 300 million) for improving the safety, health and financial wellness of associates.
