Amazon announced Alexa’s new multilingual mode: Catch all the details here

Now you can interact with Alexa in both Hindi and English

As we already know that Alexa now also understands the Hindi language other than English. Amazon’s Voice Assistant service allows you to play your favourite music, weather and cricket updates in Hindi. This service is available across all voice-enabled devices of Amazon Echo as well as partner smart speakers. In order to attract more Indian customers, the company now allows the users to switch the language option from Hindi to English or vice versa without having to change it from the settings.

From today all the Alexa devices will have a new multilingual mode. Earlier the users were asked to change the preferred language from the device language settings. Now you can talk to Alexa in Both Hindi as well as in English at the same time. For instance, if you ask Alexa about the festival of Diwali in Hindi, Alexa will reply in Hindi, e.g. “Alexa, Diwali ke liye kitne din bache hai?” and when you ask for any information in English Alexa will understand and respond in English e.g. “Alexa, why is Diwali celebrated”.

The new feature will be helpful to those households where users speak both Hindi and English language.

“You can ask Alexa to answer questions, play music, read the news, set timers and alarms, check the calendar, provide sports scores, control lights at home, use over 30,000 English skills and much more. In Hindi, you can enjoy asking Alexa for diverse content such as jokes, shayaris, games, Kabir ke dohe, Panchatantra stories, Bollywood dialogues, more than 500 Alexa skills, and even spellings of words in Hindi. Get started with commands such as “Alexa, Bollywood ke latest gane sunao”, “Alexa, cricket score batao”, “Alexa, sher ki aawaaz sunao”, or “Alexa, apne baare mei batao”.”

How to set up Alexa’s multi-lingual mode

To set up Alexa’s multi-lingual mode the existing users can change their device’s preferred language to either English or Hindi through the Language options within the device settings. This option is available on the latest version of the Alexa app.

The Echo Show and Echo Spot device users can access the settings option by swiping down from the top of the screen and then change the language. But before setting the language you are suggested to download the latest software update by asking “Alexa, check for software updates”
