Apple launches iPhone SE with A13 Bionic chipset at an affordable price of Rs 42,500: Specifications and details inside

After so many speculations, Apple has finally pulled the wraps off their newest product, which has been in the rumor mill for a long time now. The company has finally announced the launch of its second-generation Apple iPhone SE. This is the company’s first budget smartphone featuring A13 Bionic that is also available on the latest iPhone 11 devices. It comes with a 4.7-inch Retina HD display with Touch ID for security purposes and a single camera system. Apple’s latest smartphone comes with a minimal design and is successor of Apple iPhone 8.

While announcing the new Apple smartphone senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing said, “The first iPhone SE was a hit with many customers who loved its unique combination of small size, high-end performance and affordable price; the new second-generation iPhone SE builds on that great idea and improves on it in every way — including our best-ever single-camera system for great photos and videos — while still being very affordable iPhone SE features the industry-leading performance of A13 Bionic that enables great battery life, takes stunning Portrait mode and Smart HDR photos, shoots amazing videos with stereo audio, is great for games and super fast web surfing, and is built with the same industry-leading security features our customers expect. We can’t wait to get iPhone SE into customers’ hands.”

Apple iPhone SE pricing and availability

iPhone SE has been introduced in three different storage variants – 64GB, 128GB and 256GB storage. These start at Rs 42,500 for the 64GB storage model. The 128GB storage variant will be available at Rs 47,800 and going up to Rs 58,300 for the 256GB storage variant. The new mobile will be available in three colours – black, white and red. Users can purchase via Apple Authorised Resellers and select carriers.

However, the company has not revealed the availability details for the Indian market, this might be due to coronavirus lockdown.

On the purchase of the device the company will be offering Apple TV+ free for one year. Also, the company said that a portion of proceeds for iPhone SE (PRODUCT) RED purchases will go directly to Global Fund’s newly established COVID-19 Response Fund — providing funding to countries in need of PPE, diagnostics treatment, lab equipment, public safety communications, supply chain support and more. As well as HIV/AIDS grants that provide testing, counselling, treatment and prevention programs with a specific focus on eliminating transmission of the virus from mothers to their babies.

The company has used an aerospace-grade aluminium and durable glass design with an all-black front on the new iPhone SE. The device comes with an IP67 rating for water resistance up to 1 meter for 30 minutes. It features a 4.7-inch Retina HD display with 750×1334 pixels resolution, a peak brightness of 625 nits along with True Tone adjusts the white balance to match the ambient light for a more natural viewing experience. A vibrant wide colour gamut Retina HD display offers accurate colours and is supported by Dolby Vision and HDR10 playback. The new iPhone SE comes with a Home button with a touch ID for the user’s fingerprint.

The Apple’s affordable device is powered by A13 Bionic chip, which was first introduced to the iPhone 11 series. It comes with a single 12-megapixel wide angle camera sensor with f/1.8 aperture. Its camera sensor is supported by Portrait mode along with six Portrait Lighting effects and Depth Control. While on the front the company has provided a 7-megapixel selfie camera with f/2.2 aperture.

Additionally the rear camera supports high-quality video capture at 4K up to 60fps, and extended dynamic range comes to iPhone SE for more highlight details up to 30fps. The users can also record a QuickTake video using both rear and front camera that allows video recording without switching out of Photo mode. 

However, the company has not detailed information about the battery’s capacity but its claimed to support wireless-charging as well as fast-charging tech that can charge the phone up to 50 percent in just 30 minutes. For connectivity iPhone SE includes 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ax, Wi-Fi calling, NFC, Bluetooth v5.0, GPS/ A-GPS, and a Lightning port. It measures 138.4×67.3×7.3mm and weighs 148 grams.
