CONFIRMED: Nothing Phone 2 coming soon, India launch may be imminent

Nothing launched its first phone on July 12 so the upcoming launch event is expected to take place in July.

This year at MWC 2023, Carl Pei confirmed about the Phone 2, the company’s second smartphone. The news is rife, the London-based tech firm today confirmed that the Nothing Phone 2 will be released this British Summer.

Previously the company announced that the Phone 2 will be powered by Snapdragon’s 8 Series processor and will be a more “premium” offering. The company has created a dedicated event page as well ahead of the official release. One can sign up to get the latest update. The company also did confirm that for the first time, the company will make its debut in the US market with the launch of Nothing Phone 2. The video teaser shows the transparent back panel of the phone revealing the charging indicator. If you look closely there the device seems to include a slider button as well.

Not much has been revealed by the company but recently the device was spotted listed on the BIS certification site with model number AIN065 hinting at the imminent launch in India. According to the listing the upcoming phone is likely to feature a FHD+ AMOLED display with a refresh rate of 120Hz. The smartphone may also include a 5,000mAh battery with 67W fast charging support. The BIS listing also revealed that the Phone 2 will house a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SoC with up to 12GB RAM and up to 256GB storage.

Note that the company CEO at MWC 2023 in Barcelona confirmed that the Phone 2 will be powered by a Snapdragon 8 Series processor. But Alex Katouzian, Qualcomm’s SVP and GM of the Mobile, Compute and XR business unit by mistake revealed through a LinkedIn post that the handset will be equipped with a Snapdragon 8+ Gen1 processor. That post was removed later on.

Besides this, the device is likely to operate on Android 13-based Nothing OS. It may also feature a 50-megapixel primary camera with support for OIS.

The Nothing Phone 2 launch date hasn’t been confirmed but according to our sources, it is likely to debut in between May- July. Nothing launched its first phone on July 12 so the upcoming launch event is expected to take place in July.

Nothing Phone was the first of a kind in the industry to come with a transparent design with a glyph interface. The device features a 6.55-inch, 10-bit OLED display. It includes a dual rear camera with a primary Sony IMX766 sensor with OIS and EIS and a secondary Samsung JN1 ultrawide sensor with a 140-degree field of view are both 50MP cameras. Upfront there is a 16MP Sony IMX471 sensor with /2.45 aperture. The smartphone si powered by Snapdragon 778G CPU.
