HP and Google have come together to manufacture Chromebooks in India starting next month. As per the company, it will be produced at the company’s Flex Facility, which is close to Chennai, and Tamil Nadu. With this, the firm aims to support the digital education ecosystem in India. The production is said to begin on October 2 in the country.
Locally manufactured Chromebooks by HP, in collaboration with Google, will soon be available in India, reaffirming its commitment to the government’s Make in India initiative. As per the company, this partnership will advance a shared aim to support the digital education ecosystem in India and assist more students in enhancing their learning by offering inexpensive, safe, and high-quality computing equipment to educational authorities, schools, and institutions.
Vickram Bedi, Senior Director – Personal Systems, HP India, said, “HP is committed to advancing digital equity, and we have been driving many initiatives to enable digital education across India. Manufacturing Chromebook laptops in India will allow Indian students to get easy access to affordable PCs. By further expanding our manufacturing operations, we continue to support the Make in India initiative of the Government.”

The Chromebooks by HP in collaboration with Google will be produced at the Flex Facility outside of Chennai. The production of Chromebooks will begin in India on October 2. HP has been making a variety of laptops and desktops since August 2020. A wide range of laptops including HP EliteBooks, HP ProBooks, and HP G8 series notebooks since December 2021.
Moreover, HP added several kinds of desktop mini towers (MT), mini desktops (DM), small form factor (SFF) desktops, and a variety of All-in-One PCs to its lineup of locally produced commercial desktops. These products include a variety of consumer segments and offer both Intel and AMD processor options.
According to HP, These ChromeOS-equipped devices offer built-in accessibility and security features to deepen classroom connections and keep user information safe.
