Jio has announced that it will launch Starlink internet services in India in collaboration with SpaceX, which is owned by Elon Musk. The announcement comes after Airtel’s collab with Starlink. Thanks to SpaceX’s low-Earth orbit satellites, the company will now be able to offer high-speed broadband services in rural and far-off regions. To improve India’s digital ecosystem, Jio and SpaceX are also looking at other collaboration possibilities.
Jio Platforms Limited, a division of Reliance Industries Limited, is collaborating with SpaceX to introduce Starlink to India to provide all Indians access to high-speed, affordable broadband, improve connectivity, and enable communities and enterprises in the AI-driven era. The deal enables the two businesses to explore how Starlink may improve Jio’s capabilities and boost SpaceX’s direct offerings, subject to SpaceX’s approval. Jio will provide Starlink solutions via its online and physical retail locations.

Through a joint venture, the partnership seeks to use Jio’s global dominance in data traffic and Starlink’s experience with low Earth orbit satellite networks to deliver dependable broadband services throughout India, particularly in rural and isolated locations.
All Indian cities, small and medium-sized organisations, and corporations will have reliable access to the internet thanks to the partnership with SpaceX. Starlink is a cost-effective addition to JioAirFiber and JioFiber, offering high-speed internet in difficult-to-reach areas.
Jio will set up a customer care system for installation and activation and sell Starlink equipment in its retail locations.
Gwynne Shotwell, president of SpaceX, praises Jio for improving connectivity in India and says the company will collaborate with them to secure regulatory approval for Starlink’s high-speed internet services.

Note that SpaceX has also partnered with Bharti Airtel to integrate Starlink’s high-speed internet with Airtel’s infrastructure, enabling potential in-store offerings, enhanced connectivity packages, and digital solutions for schools, health centers, and community hubs.
