Today MediaTek announced its new Gaming chipset G95. The MediaTek Helio G95 joins the G90 series of the chipset that already includes G90 and G90T. All the chipsets are the gaming chipsets, however the new top of the line SoC G95 is an overclocked variant of Helio G90T which offers an enhanced GPU performance by 5 percent with 4G connectivity.
“The smartphone gaming segment shows sustained growth, with device makers keen on offering newer, more advanced technologies to gaming enthusiasts. MediaTek continues to enhance its G series gaming chips to deliver robust performance and MediaTek Helio G95 is our most powerful gaming chip to date,” said Dr. Yenchi Lee, Deputy General Manager, Wireless Communications Business Unit, MediaTek.
The MediaTek Helio G95 SoC brings enhanced features such as MediaTek HyperEngine game technology, multi-camera support, sharper imaging, graphics, and AI Super-Resolution for next-generation Video Streaming, Tele-Conferencing, and Gaming experiences.
The new Mediatek chipset aims at the premium 4G gaming smartphone segment for the major smartphone brands. The new G95 chipset will be focusing on the gaming smartphones for faster performance and top of the line features such as advanced multi-camera photography – up to 4 cameras, with an inbuilt AI processing unit (APU).
In addition to this, it comes with dual wake-up word support with the capability to enable HDR10 standard display that can be boosted to achieve HDR10+ quality in real-time. MediaTek Helio G95 includes Arm Cortex-A76 CPUs operating up to 2.05GHz, plus six Cortex-A55 power-efficient CPUs, with upgraded Arm Mali-g76 MC4, operating at up to 900 MHz for advanced single and multicore performance. The chipset also combines an ultra-low-power, always-on DSP that supports dual wake-up word detection and also ensures seamless concurrence between two parallel Voice Wakeup (VoW) functions.
The ultra-low-power DSP reduces the power consumption of applications such as the always-on Google Assistant and supports multiple keyword triggers and virtual assistants.
On the gaming part, the G95 comes with improved MediaTek HyperEngine game technology that presents networking, rapid response, picture quality, and resource management engines for unified gameplay and highly responsive user experience.
According to the company when the Wi-Fi signal is weak the MediaTek HyperEngine Wi-Fi and LTE concurrency to enable smooth and lag-free connection during gaming while also enabling the option to defer calls during gameplay without a drop in connection.
The Mediatek Helio G95 chipset offers an AI Super Resolution display for superior video calling and video streaming on Netflix, Hotstar and Amazon Prime. With the inclusion of the chip the smartphone can enable video qualities ranging from 360p to 720p HD resolution along with reduced network bandwidth by up to 75% without affecting the video quality. It also features FHD+ 90fps displays offering smooth and fast responsiveness for daily usage.
The Mediatek chipset also brings multi-camera support to offer up to 64-megapixel resolution for better low-light results during night shots. It also enables depth engines for real-time portrait bokeh, AI-FD (Fast & precise AI face detection engine), MFNR, Warping, 3DNR, video encoding and decoding at 4K 30fps, along with integrated APU for AI camera enhancement.
