With an aim to provide a seamless and superlative payment experience on the Ola app during this ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, this India-based ride-hailing company has now collaborated with PhonePe, a digital payments platform in the country. This collaboration will now enable Ola’s customers to pay for their ride using PhonePe. Mind you! This feature has currently rolled out on Android and will shortly be available on iOS too.
Asserting that this seismic change that will enable Ola to move a step closer to becoming a Digital India, Anand Subramanian, Spokesperson at Ola, said, “As we navigate through the pandemic, we have noticed a significant increase in the adoption of digital payment solutions. With commute being one of the largest spend categories for customers, we wanted to encourage this shift through value-added services to ensure them superlative as well as safe mobility experiences.”
According to Ola, This partnership will not only add to the convenience of the users by providing them with an array of options, but will also enable PhonePe to reach a wider audience.
Expressing excitement over PhonePe’s partnership with Ola, Ankit Gaur, Director, Business Development at PhonePe, added, “Facilitating safe contactless payments is of paramount importance during these tough times. This partnership will be a key enabler to drive India’s digital payment ecosystem.”
As the world is battling the COVID-19 pandemic, it becomes extremely important to cater to the growing need for contactless payment solutions during these extraordinary times. Ola claims that under this implementation, customers can use all of PhonePe’s payment instruments including the PhonePe wallet to make payments along with the UPI. The combined scale and capabilities of Ola and PhonePe will play a pivotal role in further fueling the adoption of digital payment solutions for the mobility industry.
As part of our introductory offer, Ola customers can avail up to Rs 200 in cashback on the first two rides if they pay the fare using PhonePe.
Meanwhile, Ola app has also joined RideSafeIndia initiative last month. As a part of this initiative, Ola has announced that all Ola Autos on the platform will be fitted with a protective partition screen between the driver-partner and passenger section as an additional layer of protection to ensure physical separation as the COVID-19 cases have increased tremendously in India.
