In order remain dominant in the worthy mid-range smartphone market, we have been hearing since long that OnePlus is prepping up to launch a new device. Several leaks have revealed that the upcoming handset will be known as the OnePlus 8 Lite. However, now news is rife that the device could be called OnePlus Z.
According to popular tipster Max Weinbach, “I was told that @oneplus is revamping the OnePlus X under a new series…The source referred to it as “OnePlus Z” and said the hardware matched the previous OnePlus 8 Lite render.” This means the OnePlus Z will be a modified model of OnePlus X that lived for a short while.
Earlier leaks have revealed that OnePlus 8 Lite or as the new name suggests OnePlus Z smartphone could come fitted with the MediaTek Dimensity 1000 chipset along with what likely can be a 6.5-inch AMOLED display with a screen refreshing rate of 90Hz. Moving on to camera front, we could likely see a 48MP primary lens, a 16MP secondary lens along with a 12MP selfie snapper fitted at the back of the device. As far as price is concerned, popular OnePlus tipster Ishan Agrawal has hinted that the OnePlus 8 Lite smartphone could be available at price-point as low as £400 (approx. Rs 37,500) in the UK.
Tipster Roland Quandt has tweeted what he claims to be OnePlus 8 official renders revealing that OnePlus Z or the 8 Lite could come in “Crazy new “Glow” color, fancy new Green color, standard Black looking pretty nice, too.” We are yet to find out when this new device will see the light of the day amid the lockdown the world is witnessing due to the Coronavirus outbreak. However, if news reports are to be believed the device might be launched next month in China.
Meanwhile, OnePlus has set up a special team to provide uninterrupted after-sales service to its customers by adjusting existing policies and operations to best maintain continuity and support. It has extended everyone’s warranty to May 31 if it expires between March 1 and May 30. The company has also extended its return and replacement period from 15 to 30 days. It is also providing free two-way shipping for all returns, replacements, and repairs.
Apart from this, OnePlus is also working on a back-up device program that will allow the users to stay connected with their loved ones if the phone is out for repair. Initially, the back-up device program will be in the pilot stage available for Europe and North America with limited stock. It has also added an FAQ page to answer some of the common questions regarding warranty adjustments and its service continuity plan in India, Europe and North America.
