OnePlus 8 Pro smartphones users can reportedly see through surface

OnePlus 8 Pro smartphone can process infrared light to provide in-camera effects, revealed news reports.

If we tell you that you can see through your smartphone camera, would you believe us? Well, news is rife that OnePlus 8 Pro’s custom 5MP sensor can enable its users see through some surfaces if the right conditions are met.

Discovered by XDA-Developers’ Max Weinbach and other fans, it was revealed that the Color Filter camera was spotted on OnePlus 8 Pro smartphone can process infrared light to provide in-camera effects as it can penetrate via materials without IR shielding.

Mind you! You can see things only through some materials like plastic. In a tweet, Ben Zeskin uploaded a video showcasing Apple TV set-top box. Initially, the set-top box was seen as it normally looks like a black plastic box. However, one could see what is inside the set-top box after activating Photochrom mode on the OnePlus 8 Pro.

To our surprise, a news report by AndroidPIT has notified that the fourth camera on the back of the OnePlus 8 Pro can somehow see through certain kinds of cloth. However, it clarified that the smartphone is unlikely to come fitted with a “nude scanner,” so you worry not.

The news report further stated that standard cameras that seen in smartphones come with colour filter along with IR filter revealing only the amount of light that falls on the lens of the camera by blocking light that’s outside the visible spectrum. On the contrary, OnePlus has tried experimenting with camera that is sensitive to IR light to produce that is transparent like X-rays.

In any case, it’s highly unlikely that you can see through clothes of people walking on the street. Otherwise this cool effect might have turned into a proper privacy nightmare.

In April, the Chinese smartphone company had launched OnePlus 8 Pro alongside its new OnePlus Bullets Wireless Z earpods in an online event. The 5G-enabled OnePlus 8 Pro comes with a bigger 6.78-inch QHD+ Fluid AMOLED display along with up to 120Hz refresh rate. It will be offering 1440×3168 pixels of resolution, 19.8:9 aspect ratio and is protected with a layer of 3D Corning Gorilla Glass. The display has been awarded A+ rating by DisplayMate. The smartphone runs on  OxygenOS based on top of Android 10. Under the hood there is Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 paired with up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.

On the camera front, OnePlus 8 Pro smartphone features a quad-rear camera module that comprises of a 48MP primary Sony IMX689 sensor with f/1.78 aperture and OIS and EIS support. Besides this, there comes another 8MP telephoto lens with  f/2.44 aperture, a tertiary 48MP ultra-wide-angle lens with f/2.2 aperture and lastly a 5MP color filter sensor with f/2.4 aperture for artistic lighting effects and filters. For selfie lovers, this device carries a 16MP Sony IMX471 sensor with f/2.45 aperture on the front panel.
