Redmi 9 with quad cameras and MediaTek Helio G80 processor launched: Price and tech specs

The Chinese brand Xiaomi today launched its latest entry in the Redmi’s portfolio. The company has introduced Redmi 9 powered by the MediaTek Helio G80 processor. The device has been released in Spain and the European market. The device comes with a similar feature to Redmi Note 9. The gadget features a quad rear camera setup along with a  water drop-style notch display to accommodate a selfie camera. Moreover, there is a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor as well as a 5,020mAh battery. 

Redmi 9 pricing and availability details

Xiaomi today launched Redmi 9 in two variants of 3GB of RAM with 32GB of storage and a 4GB of RAM with 64GB of internal storage options. The 3GB of RAM model has been introduced with a price tag of  EUR 149 that translates to Rs 12,800 while the 4GB RAM model price has been set at EUR 179 that translates to Rs 15,300. The device will be put on pre-orders in Spain starting June 15 however it will be offered with an introductory price of EUR 139 and  EUR 169 that translates to Rs 11,900 and Rs 14,500 respectively. It is scheduled to be on sale starting June 18 via online as well as offline channels. It handset will be available in three colour options Carbon Gray, Sunset Purple, and Ocean Green.

Redmi 9 specifications

Redmi 9 will come with a 6.53-inch full-HD+ water drop-style notch display with 1,080×2,340 pixels of resolution. The display has 19.5:9 aspect ratio, 394ppi pixel density, 400nits of brightness and is protected with a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 3, Under the hood, there is a 2GHz MediaTek Helio G80 octa-core chipset with Mali-G52 GPU. It will be offered with up to 4GB of RAM and 6GB of internal storage which can be expanded with the help of microSD card.

For optics, Redmi 9 features a quad rear camera setup that includes a 13-megapixel primary sensor with f/2.2 aperture. Further assisted by a secondary 8-megapixel ultra-wide camera with 118-degree field of view and  f/2.2 aperture, a 5-megapixel macro lens with f/2.4 aperture and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. For selfies, there is an 8-megapixel front-facing camera with a 77.8-degree field of view and f/2.0 aperture.

In terms of connectivity, there is 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth v5, Wi-Fi Direct, FM Radio, NFC, GPS, AGPS, 3.5mm headphones jack, USB Type-C port, and an IR sensor. The sensor on the phone includes a vibration motor, distance sensor, ambient light sensor, accelerometer, and electronic compass along with a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. The smartphone packs a 5,020mAh battery supported by an 18W Quick Charge 3.0 fast charging support.
