Samsung launches ‘Odyssey G9’ gaming monitor with 1000R QLED curved panel

The Odyssey G9 won the "Innovation Award" for computer peripherals at the CES 2020.

Samsung Electronics has now launched the “Odyssey” G9, which it claims is the highest-performing curved gaming monitor of all time. During the CES 2020 held in Las Vegas earlier this year, Samsung Odyssey G9 won the “Innovation Award” for computer peripherals. It comes with 1000R QLED curved panel to provide an immersive gaming experience.

“Odyssey G9 is the best product that reflects Samsung Electronics’ technology and innovations. We will continue to lead the fast-growing premium gaming monitor market by introducing a diverse lineup,” said Ha Hye-seung, Managing Director of Samsung Electronics’ Video Display Division.

As far as the specifications are concerned, the Odyssey G9 features a 49-inch dual QHD (5120×1440) resolution, giving it an overwhelming immersion as if two 27-inch QHD monitors were placed side-by-side. Besides this, Samsung Odyssey G9 gaming monitor comes with 32:9 super ultra-wide screen ratio, curved wide field of view angle panel of 1000R curvature, QLED display superior in colour reproducibility, up to 1000 nit (nit) brightness as well as 240Hz high injection rate.

With 1000R QLED curved panel, Samsung Odyssey G9 screen provides maximum comfortable immersion to users as it helps maintain the same viewing distance at any angle and minimizes screen distortion. When viewed across the G9’s curved screen, game graphics appear more realistic for an optimized gaming experience.

The Odyssey G9 can process 240 frames every second, a screen refresh rate high enough to portray even the most complex game motions and scenarios seamlessly. Having a gaming monitor that provides high refresh rates and super-fast response times is just as important as equipping yourself with the best in-game items.

Apart from these features, Samsung Odyssey G9 also supports nvidia G-Sync Compatible, which reduces screen loss during high-definition gameplay, and AMD Pre-Sync Premium Pro, which automatically optimizes contrast ratio and colour depending on the game genre. On the design front, the black slim bezel on the front enhances the immersion, while the rear is enhanced by a high-gloss white material and infinity core lighting in 52 colours for a futuristic design.

Samsung further revealed that its Odyssey G9 gaming monitor comes with hdr10+ logo certification for HDR (High Dynamic Range) technology that optimizes brightness and contrast ratio for each scene to increase the three-dimensional image. This feature also enables one to achieve accurate colour expression for the first time in the monitor product. Samsung claims that this gaming monitor is also VESA Certified with DisplayHDR 1000 certification to ensure high-end HDR quality and performance.

On top of it, Samsung Odyssey G9 gaming monitor has also been verified as a comfortable display by TUV Rheinland in Germany, a global standards certification body, and has been certified as ‘Eye Comfort’.

Mind you! Samsung Odyssey G9 gaming monitor, which has been launch in South Korea as of now, will be available at a price of KRW 1.9 million. However, there is no news about the global launch of this gaming monitor  by Samsung.
