Skype is a video-calling platform that is used by anyone who is digitally connected at least some point in time. Earlier this year, Skype was testing a new feature for its Android and iOS apps called the Skype Screen Share. The Skype Screen Share feature is currently being rolled out for Android and iOS version of the app after being tested for two months. The new version of Skype can be downloaded by the users who have the latest version of Android and iOS 12. The Skype Screen Share feature does as its name suggests – it allows the users to share their mobile display screens with the person with whom they are on video call. The users can share their mobile screen with the other user on video chat with just a tap of a button.
Speaking more about the Skype Screen Share, the users can activate the new feature by first downloading the latest version of the application from the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store. After updating the Skype app to its latest version, the users can then make a video call and use the new Skype Screen Share feature by clicking/ tapping on the icon. This feature was seen being tested first for the Skype Insider users back in April 2019.
If the user wants to share their mobile screen with the person with whom he is on video call with, here’s what he needs to do:
- Tap the three dots icon at the bottom of the app screen.
- Select the ‘Screen Share’ option.
- This will allow the user to share their smartphone screen with others on the video call.
This feature can prove to be useful in many instances, like when a user wants to share his PowerPoint presentation or online shopping with his contacts. Other than the Screen Share feature, the updated version of Skype also has new features such as call recording, subtitles, etc.
Other than that, the new updated Skype application has received a redesign in its UI and the way it looks and functions. Now, Skype has simplified the video calling, as the users can tap once to remove all the call controls from the screen, while a double tap will remove all the rest of the controls from the screen as well so that he can have a clutter-free video call. However, if the user wants to bring back all the controls, he can tap the screen once again which will bring back all the call and other controls on the video call screen.
