Snapchat Users Can Now Change Their Username: This Is How

The tool was previously available to Snapchat users in Australia.

Snapchat users will soon be capable of changing their usernames. The popular social media platform has announced the latest functionality which will be accessible to Snapchatters starting February 23 onwards. This feature will be available for both Android and iOS platforms. However, users will only be allowed to modify it once per year.

Snapchat users may now delete their original usernames without having to establish a brand new account. As per the company changing customers’ usernames will have no effect on their accounts, buddy lists, Snap codes, Snap scores, or memories. “Your Snapchat username is set when you first create your Snapchat account. It’s not possible to change your Snapchat username. This is for security reasons. It’s also not possible to transfer account data, Memories, or Snapstreaks from one username to another.”

Previously, Snapchat did not enable users to replace their usernames for security concerns.

It is worth mentioning that users will only be allowed to modify it once per year. To change one’s Snapchat username, simply follow a few simple steps.

How to change username on Snapchat

Beginning February 23, the much-anticipated feature will be accessible on both Android and iOS devices.

  • Open Snapchat and navigate to the profile screen by tapping the Bitmoji symbol.
  • By pressing on the gear icon, you can access the settings menu.
  • Tap Username, then Change Username.
  • On the pop-up, click Continue and enter the new Username.
  • Next, press the next button.

Like we said before changing your username will not affect your accounts, buddy lists, Snap codes, Snap scores, or memories. But you may only change that once a year and also users will not be allowed to use a handle that has previously been used, even by yourself. This means if you are expecting to preserve a username that’s already registered and inactive, this update won’t help. In addition to this after you switch, it appears that your former login is no longer available.
