‘Cloud gaming’ has been a tech buzzword for years as gamers no longer need to buy expensive gaming PCs or consoles. Now Tencent has joined hands with Huawei to leverage the Kunpeng processor in order to build quality, cost-effective mobile cloud gaming solutions. The companies will together delve deep into cloud gaming, artificial intelligence, virtual reality and augmented reality in the gaming world.

During live-streaming of Huawei Developer Conference 2020, Huawei has announced a strategic partnership with Tencent Games. As a result, the homogeneous device-cloud architecture of Kunpeng processors will be the catalyst for this joint innovation.

“We are glad to have the strategic collaboration with Huawei and have set up a joint innovation lab as testimony to our long-term goals. We will combine our strengths in mobile cloud gaming and game engines. For example, at Tencent we have built the GameMatrix platform designed for mobile cloud gaming. In the future we will leverage Huawei Kunpeng processors to build quality, cost-effective mobile cloud gaming solutions,” said Ma Xiaoyi, Senior Vice President of Tencent.

“Currently, we have 1.6 million developers working on HUAWEI CLOUD. We will continue to work with global developers and industry partners to provide robust, economical computing power by leveraging the multi-core, high-concurrency advantages of Kunpeng processors. Together, we will unlock the trillion-dollar blue ocean market of the computing industry and share the success of the digital economy,” said Hou Jinlong, President of Cloud & AI BG, Huawei.

According to Huawei, Kunpeng is set to become the foundation for future IT development in multiple markets, which will mutually benefit all players in the digital economy.

Amid the COVID-19 outbreak, Tencent has been working closely with the World Health Organisation (WHO) to develop a strategy to educate, inform and enable Internet users as well as businesses. Tencent has implemented these initiatives across our social and news platforms, as well as with our partner online channels. The company is also helping the WHO promote its official information daily in our platforms and collaborating with them closely on rumour verification.
