Xiaomi launched Mi TV Stick in India powered by Android TV 9

The Chinese electronics brand Xiaomi today announced the launch of its Mi TV Stick in India The Mi TV Stick is powered by Android TV 9.0. Xiaomi Mi TV Stick offers access to 5000+ apps and games and OTT content via Google Play. The company aims to take on Amazon Fire TV Stick. This device can turn your non-smart TV into a smart TV without burning a hole into your pocket. One can easily connect it to their TV to stream Full HD resolution content.

Eshwar Nilakantan, Lead Business – MiTV, Xiaomi India, said, “At Xiaomi, we are focused on bringing entertainment into the comfort of your living room by providing solutions that not only provide access to content but also make streaming a lot more convenient on non-smart TV sets. With the launch of Mi TV Stick, we are focused on offering the Smart TV experience to consumers who are constantly looking for ways to consume OTT content.”

Mi TV Stick price and availability

According to the company, Mi TV Stick will be available at a price tag of Rs 2,799. This device will be available via Mi.com, Mi Homes, Flipkart.com as well as soon across select offline channels starting August 7 in India. The sale will kick off at 12 noon onwards. There will be offers available for the buyers being offered by some of the leading content partners. On the purchase of the TV Stick the buyers will be eligible to get a 15-day free trial from Zee5, 50% on an entire year’s Aha Entertainment subscription and Hungama Play’s entire month’s subscription for free. 

Mi TV Stick specifications and features

Xiaomi Mi TV Stick has been designed in a way to provide compactness to the device as it comes with a slim and sleek design also weighs 28.5 grams and measures 92.4 x 30.4mm which is light in weight. This product runs on Android TV version (9.0) therefore giving access to thousands of OTT contents, games and apps for the users via Google Play store. One can easily get access to Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+ Hotstar, Hungama Play, Zee5, Aha Entertainment and more. Also makes lots of games accessible to games on the Google Play Store.

It is also bundled with a Bluetooth remote with dedicated buttons for Netflix and Prime Video comes alongside the Mi TV Stick. This device is powered by a quad-core Cortex A53 processor backed by 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage. In addition to this, it also supports Dolby and DTS audio compression technologies. 

Xiaomi TV Stick supports voice assistant by Google Assistant giving users a hands-free control, get latest updates, news, play, search their favourite content and control other smart home devices. It comes with Chromecast built-in so that users can cast content from all their favourite apps across multiple devices such as mobiles, laptops and tablets.

As it comes pre-installed with Google’s Data Saver especially for Indian users one can easily stream more content using the device and simultaneously keeps a track of your data usage.
