Flipkart has introduced its 6-day Big Saving Days in India. During the ongoing sale, Kodak has revealed the most enticing deals of the season, with prices starting at Rs 5,999 and a variety of smart televisions available, including HD Ready, Full HD, 4K, and QLED TVs.

SPPL, the official brand licensee of Kodak, has announced massive discounts and offers on Kodak televisions during the Flipkart Winter Sale. The company is said to offer excellent bargains on the Kodak CA PRO, 9XPRO, and Matrix QLED series. Flipkart is giving a 10% instant discount on Kotak Mahindra cards and EMI transactions.

According to SPPL, during the Flipkart Big Saving Days sale, Kodak’s QLED models, which are available in 43, 50, 55, 65, and 75-inch sizes, would start at Rs 20999. These models have a 4K QLED display with 1.1 billion colours, Dolby Atmos, Dolby Vision, HDR 10+, DTS TruSurround for enhanced sound quality, 2GB of RAM, and 16GB of internal storage.

The KODAK 9XPRO Series is powered by Android 11, which includes an ARM Cortex A554 REALTEK processor, DOLBY DIGITAL sound, a 30W speaker output, and built-in Netflix, Google Assistant, Chromecast, Bluetooth 5.0, 1GB RAM, and 8GB ROM. The price of the 32-inch model would be Rs 9,999.

The apps on your Android smartphone rely on the built-in microphone to carry out some of their core functions. Access to the microphone is essential for voice assistants, recorders, and communication apps. Since Android 6.0, users have had an option to decide which apps get access to the mic. Over the years, the choices have become more refined. Users can now grant an app access to the mic only when it is in use. Furthermore, you can centrally shut off access to the mic with just a few taps. Let’s take a look at how you can turn the microphone on or off on an Android phone.

Is your microphone listening to you?

Your Android smartphone offers different microphone access levels to the apps installed on the device. When you launch an app for the first time, you are asked whether you want to give it access to the microphone or deny it. You can allow the app to use the microphone when it is running in the foreground. As soon as your phone’s mic becomes active, you will notice a green mic icon in the top left corner of the screen.

While the apps on your phone are not always using the mic, Google Assistant is. This is because the voice assistant is always listening for the ‘Hey Google’ or ‘OK Google’ phrases. Once you say either of those phrases, the voice assistant springs into action. Even though Google Assistant utilises the microphone all the time, it does not prompt the mic indicator on the status bar.

The good thing about Android smartphones is that you can revoke central access to the microphone all the time. Once the mic access is revoked every app, including Google Assistant, cannot access it. You can choose to revoke mic access for an individual app as well.

Turn the microphone on or off from settings

The Winter Launch Event, which has no specified venue, is believed to be a virtual event unveiling the OnePlus 13 and the OnePlus 13R. The global variant may be comparable to the current Chinese version, using a Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. According to the company, the OnePlus 13R would be available in a few international regions, including India. With a huge, circular camera module that houses three sensors and an LED flash unit positioned towards the upper left side of the rear panel, the company has announced that the forthcoming phone will resemble the OnePlus 13 model. The volume rocker and power button are located on the right edge.

The OnePlus 13R will also have a huge 6,000mAh battery. It will be offered in Nebula Noir and Astral Trail, two colourways that draw inspiration from Mother Nature. Likewise, there will be three colour options for the OnePlus 13 smartphone: Arctic Dawn, Black Eclipse, and Midnight Ocean.

With a frame made of aluminium for a sophisticated look and a Gorilla Glass 7i screen for improved scratch resistance, the OnePlus 13R is a stylish gadget. Its star trail finish and 8mm thin body combine to provide a pleasing design.

In addition, OnePlus plans to release Sapphire Blue, a new colourway for the OnePlus Buds Pro 3, in India. The device has a leather-textured feel, a sleek design, and smooth touch controls. In collaboration with the OnePlus 13 series, the Buds Pro 3 will also feature AI Translation, providing convenience for daily communication and work-related tasks.

Lenovo introduced the Yoga Slim 7i Aura Edition in India. The Aura Edition offers a comprehensive AI experience that boosts PC computing productivity and efficiency for professionals, developers, programmers, and regular users. It has Series 2 Intel Core Ultra CPUs. Up to 120 TOPS of AI performance are available, with the incorporated neural processing unit (NPU) contributing more than 45 TOPS. The machine’s battery is also claimed to last more than eighteen hours.

Priced at Rs 1,49,990, the Lenovo Yoga Slim 7i Aura Edition will be sold on Lenovo.com, Lenovo Exclusive Stores, and other online retailers. Additionally, it includes Lenovo Premium Care, which provides quick fixes as well as personalised hardware and software support.

With Intel Core Ultra CPUs (Series 2), the Yoga Slim 7i Aura Edition is an AI-powered PC that provides outstanding performance for gaming, entertainment, creativity, and productivity. It offers smooth multitasking and remarkable speed because of its 8-core hybrid architecture and powerful GPU. Up to 120 TOPS of AI capability, including more than 45 TOPS from the integrated neural processing unit (NPU), are available with the Intel Core Ultra CPUs (Series 2). While the NPU completes difficult tasks in quick time, the GPU makes big plans come to life. Up to 32GB of RAM and 1TB of SSD storage are supported by the gadget.

According to certain reports online, almost 25% of iPhone users are not interested in AI features at all, while more than 70% find no use for it in their daily routine. If Apple Intelligence features are nothing but an annoyance to you, here’s how you can disable them on your iPhone.

What’s wrong with Apple Intelligence?

Since Apple Intelligence is still in the Beta phase, some inconsistencies are expected from the AI suite. For example, the Clean Up tool in the Photos app can often come up with unexpected results. In comparison, its Google counterpart, Magic Eraser, does a way better job, being a permanent fixture in the Google Photos app for several years now.

If you’re not interested in AI features for now and want to wait for a more polished product, Apple lets you disable the package on the iPhone (or any other eligible devices). The great thing about this is that you can choose to turn off AI features for specific functions and apps instead of the entire suite. The Nothing OS 3.0 Open Beta 1 update for Nothing Phones has been made available worldwide, enabling users to try all new features prior to the final rollout later this month. Shared Widgets facilitate cross-device content sharing, while Smart Drawer AI is also incorporated for app categorisation and pinning. Improvements to the camera include better low-light photography and faster HDR.

Nothing, a consumer technology company based in London, has released Nothing OS 3.0 (NOS 3.0), which is powered on Android 15 and provides a better user experience along with more sharing and customisable interactions. A brand-new Nothing Gallery app comes with NOS 3.0, providing improved editing features like filters, markup, and suggestions in addition to advanced search capabilities.

In order to keep in touch with friends and family, the update adds Shared Widgets to the lock screen.  The lock screen now has improved clock faces, expanded widget space for additional personalisation options, and a new customisation page that can be accessed either on the lock screen or the customisation page.

Additionally, it has improved productivity widgets like the Countdown Widget and an AI-powered Smart Drawer that places users’ favourite apps at the front of the app drawer without requiring them to scroll. The Smart Drawer organises apps into folders for easier access and better organisation.

A pop-up view, improved Quick Settings, performance and visual improvements, and revised typography are just a few of the advancements that NOS 3.0 will bring.

With a better widget library design and new visuals, including better Network & Internet and Bluetooth options, the Quick Settings have been overhauled for a better editing experience.

Improved zoom slider display, a smoother user interface after countdown photos, a quicker launch speed, and a reduced HDR scene processing time are a handful of camera enhancements.

The new version has a movable pop-up view for rapid access, simple resizing, and effective multitasking. By swiping down on incoming notifications, you can access it and pin it to the screen’s edge. Through Settings > System > Pop-up view, it is enabled.

AI-powered app selection and prioritisation, auto-archive functionality to free up storage space without removing apps or data, partial screen sharing for secure screen recording, an updated setup wizard to version 3.0, predictive back animations for opted-in apps, new fingerprint and charging animations, and a more seamless app launch with predictive back animations and signature dot matrix styling are all features of the most recent Nothing OS update.

Shared widgets are currently only supported between Nothing devices and Photo Widgets (square). Support for other widgets is being developed, and the Countdown Widget will be available on Google Play later this month. NOS 3.0 will be rolled out to Nothing Phone (2) and Phone (2a) staggered by the end of the year, followed by Nothing Phone (1), Phone (2a) Plus, and CMF Phone 1.

Samsung has revealed some of the features that One UI 7, their operating system based on Android 15, would have. Earlier this month, the beta version was made available in Germany, India, and a few other places. OnePlus has announced the launch date for its new flagship smartphone. The new OnePlus 13 will be launched globally on January 7. OnePlus 13: Design, Display, Chipset, and more

The global variant of the OnePlus 13 will mimic its China sibling in many facets, but will also carry some distinguishing features. After sticking with curved screen displays for their flagship smartphones, OnePlus is expected to introduce a flat-screen panel on the upcoming device. The 6.82-inch LTPO AMOLED display will have a 120Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 4,500 nits.

The glass back and aluminium frame of the smartphone are also set to receive some design tweaks. The new OnePlus smartphone will lose the metal panel around its camera cutout. The camera panel will now be a free-standing circular unit along the top right side of the glass back. Additionally, the edges of the smartphone will be completely back. OnePlus will also introduce a vegan leather, ‘Midnight Ocean’ colour variant for the smartphone as well. The device will have IP68 and IP69 ratings.

Under the hood, the OnePlus 13 will rock the newest Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC. This chipset is built on a 3nm process and towers over its predecessor in terms of performance. Let’s talk about OnePlus 13’s camera specs. The China-spec version of the smartphone has a 50MP triple rear-camera setup tuned by Hasselblad. This year’s OnePlus 12 rocked a 50MP primary shooter, a 64MP periscope telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom, and a 48MP ultrawide lens. The primary shooter is set to remain the same on the smartphone’s successor. Up front, OnePlus will stick with the 32MP selfie shooter.

Expect significant upgrades on the battery front as well, although those who have been holding their breath for Qi2 wireless charging will have to wait a little longer. The OnePlus 13 will pack a 6,000mAh battery with support for 100W wired, 80W (QC) wireless charging in the USA, and 50W wireless charging globally.

This year’s OnePlus 12 was launched in India at a starting price of Rs 64,999 for the 12GB RAM + 256GB Storage variant, going up to Rs 69,999 for the 16GB RAM + 512GB Storage model. Poco has officially announced the launch of a brand new smartphone Poco M7 Pro 5G in India. The device is powered by MediaTek Dimensity 7025 Ultra SoC and runs on HyperOS based on Android 14. Samsung was one of the last OEMs to roll out its Android 15-based OS. The tech giant took the wraps off the One UI 7 OS at its ‘Galaxy Unpacked’ event in January. The Galaxy Unpacked event also saw the launch of the newest Galaxy S25 series. Soon after the showcase, the stable version of the OS was released for eligible devices. One UI 7 made some key changes to the design, more specifically to the Quick Settings Menu and the app drawer. The latter’s layout was changed to a vertical scrolling grid. With the new One UI 8 OS on the way, the vertical layout is not expected to change. If you’re not a fan of the new design, here’s how you can restore the app drawer pages on your Samsung phone.

What’s new on One UI 7’s app drawer?

One of the key software elements that distinguishes Samsung smartphones from their peers is the app drawer. While OEMs like Oppo, OnePlus, Vivo, and others have a scrolling grid for their app drawer, Samsung has traditionally opted for a page layout. This has changed on the One UI 7 OS, as the app drawer now features a vertical scrolling grid. If that’s not your cup of tea, you can always revert the app drawer to its previous layout.

Apart from the app drawer, Samsung has also made key design changes to the Quick Settings Menu. The new dropdown menu is heavily inspired by Apple’s Control Centre. A down-swipe from anywhere on the home page reveals the notification shade. The Quick Settings can only be accessed by swiping down from the top-right corner of the screen. Luckily, this change can also be easily reversed without jumping through a lot of hoops.

It is the second phone after Agni 3 by the Indian brand to have a secondary display. It also features a 6.67-inch AMOLED display. The device is powered by a 2.5GHz MediaTek Dimensity 7025 processor paired with LPDDR5 RAM & UFS 3.1 ROM. It also has a 64MP Sony Sensor rear camera and a 16MP selfie camera for photography.
