Here is when iPhone 17e is likely to make its debut

The iPhone 17e is expected to be released this month as Apple’s next affordable model, succeeding the iPhone 16e. It is expected to include a 6.1-inch 60 Hz display and may include MagSafe charging. While Apple’s confirmation is still pending, sources suggest considerable advancements in chipset and networking capabilities; however, the overall appearance is expected to stay similar to the previous model.

Expected launch date

On February 19, which is the first anniversary of the iPhone 16e’s release, Apple is likely to announce the iPhone 17e. The 17e is expected to come out soon, although Apple hasn’t officially confirmed that this new low-cost model will be added to the iPhone 17 series.

Similar to last year, it’s most likely that the announcement will be shared through a normal press release instead of a special launch event. As the debut gets closer, there will be more updates.

Pricing Expected

Mark Gurman of Bloomberg says that the price may stay the same, with the base model with 128GB of storage starting at $599 (which is approximately Rs 54,000). The price in India could start at Rs 59,900, which is around the same as the iPhone 16e. People across the world should be able to get the iPhone 17e in white, black, and lavender.

Design and Specifications Details

Apple hasn’t said anything about the iPhone 17e yet, as we said before, but rumours offer details regarding its look and function. According to Jon Prosser’s concept video, the smartphone may feature Apple’s Dynamic Island and MagSafe charging technology. It is expected to come in white, black, and lavender, with thin bezels.

The 17e is expected to have a single 48-megapixel back camera with optical image stabilisation (OIS), an LED light, and a 12-megapixel TrueDepth front camera for selfies and video calling. It may feature volume controls and an action button on the left side, as well as a power button on the right. The design will most likely be similar to its predecessor. It will purportedly include the Dynamic Island feature and will be powered by Apple’s A19 processor and a C1X chip. The panel is also expected to have the same refresh rate as its predecessor, up to 60 Hz.

It is assumed that the battery capacity remains constant. The new A19 chip may affect overall usage time. As previously stated, a noteworthy upgrade for the iPhone 17e could be the introduction of MagSafe charging, which allows for quicker wireless charging of up to 25W, rather than the 7.5W given by the iPhone 16e’s Qi standard.

Some may want to play music without opening the lid or download a large file with the lid closed. Apple does not offer a way to go about this task. But there are ways to get around this roadblock. Here’s how you can stop your MacBook from sleeping when its lid is closed.

Before you begin

You may be wondering why Apple doesn’t let you keep your MacBook active when you close its lid. This is largely due to three reasons.

  • Preserving the battery life
  • Keeping the battery health intact
  • Keeping the heating issues in check

If you want to circumvent this default behaviour, you will need to connect your MacBook to an external display. Once that’s done, closing the lid won’t put it to sleep as long as it is connected to its power adapter. MacBooks have an internal setting that allows them to stay active while they’re plugged into a charger. If you don’t have an external monitor on hand, you can use a special Terminal command to keep the laptop active in clamshell mode.

The Galaxy S26 and S26+ variants will not stray too far from their predecessors in terms of design. The triple camera setup on the back will get a small cosmetic tweak in the form of a surrounding panel, making it a 2-step island. This update is similar to what we saw on the Galaxy A56 and A36 last year.

The Samsung Galaxy S26 will rock a slightly larger 6.3-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with a 120Hz refresh rate. In comparison, the Galaxy S25 (our review here) had a 6.2-inch display. The Galaxy S26+ will retain the 6.7-inch display from last year. Both models will get identical camera layouts. The vertical rear camera array will comprise a 50MP primary shooter, a 10MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom, and a 12MP ultrawide lens.

The chipset powering the two models will differ based on the region. In Europe, the non-Ultra models are expected to pack Samsung’s in-house Exynos 3600 chipset. US-spec models may be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 SoC. It remains to be seen which chipset will power the India-spec variants. In the past, Samsung has used both Exynos and Snapdragon processors for the base and Plus models in the country.

The Galaxy S26 will be equipped with a 4,300mAh Li-ion battery pack – a bump of 3,00mAh. The Plus model will retain the 4,900mAh Li-ion unit from the Galaxy S25+ (our review here). The two variants will support 25W wired and 15W wireless charging. Fast charging enthusiasts will have to wait longer for better charging speeds on Samsung’s non-Ultra flagships.

The top-spec Ultra model will get the more notable updates. Samsung has already announced a new privacy screen for this variant. It will allow users to prevent onlookers from viewing the contents of their device by simply turning it at an angle. The size of the display will remain unchanged. The 6.9-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X panel will have a 120Hz refresh rate.

The S26 Ultra’s quad camera setup will feature a 200MP primary shooter, a 10MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom, a 50MP periscope telephoto lens with 5x optical zoom, and a 50MP ultrawide lens. Rumours suggest that Samsung could bring back variable aperture for this variant.

While the Ultra model will retain the 5,000mAh Li-ion battery pack, its 60W wired charging speed will be a significant upgrade over the 45W support offered by the Galaxy S25 Ultra (our review here). The wireless charging speed will get a small boost as well. However, those who have been holding out for built-in magnets will have to wait longer. 

The Galaxy S26 Ultra will be powered by Qualcomm’s latest flagship chipset. The Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 SoC may be overclocked and dubbed as ‘For Galaxy’ for this model. All three smartphones in the lineup will run the Android 16-based One UI 8.5 OS out of the box.

Final Thoughts

The pricing of the three variants will be announced at the Galaxy Unpacked event on February 25. Recent leaks suggest that the base model will be priced at €999 (~ Rs 1.07 lakh), while the Plus and Ultra variants will fetch €1,269 (~ Rs 1.36 lakh) and €1,469 (Rs 1.58 lakh) respectively.
