The world’s largest semiconductor chip manufacturer (by revenue), Intel may release its new discrete GPU Named Intel DG2. It will be the first consumer gaming-grade GPU designed by the company.

What are the expected features of the Intel DG2?

The Intel DG2 GPU will not only be a significant upgrade over its predecessor DG1. In fact, the DG2 may give a tough competition to the latest NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX series. The Intel DG2 is maybe designed by the Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) as Intel had earlier revealed that it may outsource the manufacturing of its DG2 GPUs. The Graphics card will comprise TCMC’s 6nm node to deliver a speed of up to 512 execution units and a clock frequency of up to 2.2Ghz.

What is the performance of the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070?

The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 is designed on a second-generation RTX architecture. THE GPU houses advance ray-tracing cores, a high-speed G6 memory, enhanced streaming multiprocessors, and tensor cores. As a result, the graphics card can render outstanding visuals of the most demanding games including Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, FarCry 6, and Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War.

The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 features an 8GB GDDR6 memory whereas the Intel DG2 is expected to offer a 16GB GDDR6 memory. The graphics card is known for its seamless DLSS AI acceleration. The Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS) is an image upscaling technology introduced by Nvidia that uses Deep Learning to enhance lower-resolution models to higher-resolution models in real-time.

Can Intel DG2 give tough competition to the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070?

Just like NVIDIA, Intel’s DG2 may also come with a 256-bit memory bus The graphics card is may also have a TDP (Thermal Design Power) of about roughly 275W. Intel is reportedly working on its XeSS technology to compete against NVIDIA’s DLSS technology. Currently, a majority of video game developers design their games that support the DLSS AI Acceleration. In future, Intel will have to get the developers on board to design video games supporting the XeSS technology as well.

How soon can we expect the Intel DG2 to arrive?

The Intel DG2 will be the most advanced GPU launched by Intel. The NVIDIA GeForce RTX series has set new benchmarks in the field of graphics card performance. As a result, Intel would carry out rigorous testing and make appropriate improvements to ensure a class-apart graphics performance.

Intel has not made any announcement regarding the launch of the DG2 graphics card. Intel would like to make sufficient units to check supply issues that happened with NVIDIA and AMP in the past. Thus, we may expect the Intel DG2 to arrive by the end of 2021.
