Poco M8x 5G launch date announced: Design teased, confirmed to be powered by Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 SoC

The Poco M8x 5G is launching in India this month and is a solid addition to the Poco M8 series, which also includes the M8 5G and M8 Power 5G variants. The gadget is expected to be priced below Rs 20,000 which should make it accessible for the people. The most interesting part is the Poco M8x 5G would be the first smartphone in India to come with the Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 CPU. We can expect better performance and efficiency. Xiaomi, the parent company of Poco, has also started to tease some of the impending features of this new smartphone, thereby building enthusiasm among the prospective purchasers.

Now the firm has officially disclosed the launch date for the new smartphone. The Poco M8x 5G will be launched in India at 12PM IST on August 21. After the launch event, the gadget will be made available for purchase via e-commerce site Flipkart. The design and important specifications have been teased on the site where it has been listed ahead of the formal launch.

The POCO M8x 5G is designed with a distinctive dual-tone, textured design, including a flat, matte-like back surface in a unique green shade that helps with grip and prevents fingerprint smudges. In the upper left corner is a dual-camera arrangement encased in a gold-finished camera module, supported by an LED flash, and bordered by a contrasting gold accent.

The device has a flat-edge design on the side chassis, including gold trim to accent the camera module. On the right spine, you’ll find a power button and volume rocker, while the back panel has horizontal POCO branding for some aesthetic appeal.

The POCO M8x 5G smartphone will be the first one in India to use the Snapdragon 4 Gen 5 processor. The company claims that this model will score over 650,000 points on the AnTuTu test. It boasts an advanced triple cooling system for better heat management with a 12,439 sq. mm graphite cooling component, a 1,924 sq. mm copper foil layer and a high-performance thermal gel rated at 3.5W. The gadget is built for maximum performance and claims up to 48 months of lag-free use. It has 12GB RAM and also comes with a virtual memory extension of 6GB. It will support LPDDR4x RAM and UFS 2.2 storage technology.

But leaked specs of the upcoming mobile device indicate a 6.9-inch HD+ LCD display with a 120Hz refresh rate, which promises smooth images. The handset is likely to be backed by a big 6,000mAh battery with 33W fast-charging capability that should keep it running for a long period with rapid-recharge capabilities. It will be loaded with HyperOS 3 which improves user experience and application performance.
