How to block YouTube channels from appearing on your Smart TV?

Tired of unwanted YouTube channels spamming your Smart TV feed? Here’s how you can block them.

While you may find it easy to work your way around YouTube on your desktop and smartphone, navigating it on your Smart TV can be a bit tricky. Sometimes, even more so when you need to use the functions you rarely ever require. One such rarely-used option is ‘blocking’ a YouTube channel. Today, we will show you how you can block YouTube channels on your Smart TV. Blocking unwanted YouTube channels is a nice way to keep your feed curated to your liking.

It may also come in handy if you want to keep your feed kid-friendly. ‘Blocking’ on YouTube doesn’t quite work the same way as it does on other social media platforms. While you will never see the blocked content on your personal YouTube feed, you may still encounter it on other websites.

Here’s how you can block YouTube channels from appearing on your Smart TV

While some Smart TVs let you report offensive content on YouTube, the option of blocking a YouTube Channel can still be inaccessible. Luckily, there is a quick workaround that’ll keep certain channels blocked on your Smart TV.

You will, however, require another device for this process.

Step 1: Sign in to YouTube on your Laptop or Phone with the YouTube account you use on your Smart TV.

Conclusion

If you’re interested, there are other ways of restricting content on your device instead of blocking it. Whenever you come across an undesired video, simply click on the ellipses on the video icon and select ‘Not Interested’. You will also find several other options like flagging the content as offensive. The YouTube algorithm will make sure you do not see videos from that content creator in the future.
