Facebook has always been paying attention to user’s needs and it keeps on updating its products such as Messenger, Instagram and WhatsApp with new features. Recently it has rolled out several features to its photo-sharing app Instagram to enhance the user experience. It introduced Guides, Vanish Mode, Watch together and Chat themes for this platform. Out of the four features, two of them are specifically focused on Reels. This short video sharing feature was introduced in India after a ban on TikTok. Now Instagram has announced new updates for branded content on its platform, which will now include the ‘Branded Content ads with product Tags’ feature in Reels. This feature is also said to be expanded to Live as well.
As per the latest blog post by Instagram “In June 2019, we launched the ability for brands to run branded content posts as ads as a new way to amplify their brand story through the voice of creators. Branded Content ads drive value for creators, too, allowing them to gain additional visibility and discovery.”
Up until the Branded Content ads could only be accessible by promoting the existing posts from creators. But after the new update, the advertisers can create Branded Content ads without the need for creators to post organically on Instagram first.
With the launch of this feature on the photo-sharing app, the brands are now said to have more flexibility with fewer constraints when they want to run Branded Content ads. As per the company the new workflow has been designed with creator control in mind – creators can approve and pause any ads published from their handle.
Advertisers can send requests for Ad Creation Access by heading to SETTINGS and then clicking the BUSINESS options. On opening this option select Branded content and then tap on the REQUEST AS CREATION ACCESS option. Now search for the creator’s profile in the search option and then tap on SEND REQUEST.
Now done with sending the request it is now creators will to accept your Ad creation Access request. On accepting the request, the advertiser will receive a notification.
As per Instagram, Branded Content ads in Stories can now include tappable elements, such as @mentions, location and hashtags. In addition to this the ability for businesses to promote branded content posts with the use of Brand Content Tags, however, this format is slated to begin testing in the coming months.
“Until today, branded content posts from creators that included product tags were not able to be promoted. Now brands can get more value out of this content that makes it easy for people to shop directly from creators that inspire them,” the blog post said.
Recently Instagram also launched the ability for businesses and creators to set a minimum age for their branded content feed posts on Instagram. This will allow them to set a default minimum age or a minimum age for specific countries, or a combination of both.
