NGO’s can use Facebook’s Donate Now button to raise funds

Who said Facebook is all bad? Facebook has added a way for NGO’s to raise funds through its website using the donate now button. This button will enable non profit organisations to raise funds from the followers on its Facebook page.  It comes in the form of call-to-action button and donators can click and follow the on screen instructions.

Facebook for Business post says, “We are excited to introduce a new “Donate Now” call-to-action option on both link ads and Pages. Now, it’s easier than ever for nonprofits to connect with people who care about their causes and encourage them to contribute through the website of their choice,”

Facebook has only kept this button alive for NGO’s. No one besides them would be able to use this service. Once the user clicks on the donate now button, the user is taken to an external site and Facebook does not ask you for any sort of details.

It is a great move by the social networking giant, if you ask us. Recently a pet rescue NGO in New Delhi is facing cash crunch and they had to shut down their emergency services. Services like these from Facebook would have definitely helped them to raise some funds. Great move Facebook!
