Google has added new tools to help you find doctors who accept your health insurance in its most recent update. Users will be able to find the right doctor more easily with this feature, and Google Maps will show which insurance plans they accept. Google has also added a new language filter to help with searches.
As of now, the healthcare feature is being specifically rolled out in the US. While announcing the feature Google commented, “Navigating the U.S. healthcare system can be quite challenging, so it’s no wonder three in four people turn to the internet first in their search for health information. By providing timely and authoritative health information, plus relevant resources and tools on Google Search, we’re always exploring ways to help people make more informed choices about their health. Here are a few new ways we’re helping.”
According to the tech giant, its latest search algorithm will aid users in navigating the complexities and costs of the American healthcare system.
People can check which insurance networks a provider accepts when looking for a specific provider. And, if they’re looking for a new provider in general, they can now use mobile to filter for providers who accept Medicare, which is a health plan primarily for people over 65.
Additionally, people will be able to communicate clearly in their preferred language in addition to finding a doctor who accepts their insurance. To help with this Google has added healthcare professionals the option of informing prospective patients about the languages spoken in their office. Over a dozen languages are currently represented, including Spanish and American Sign Language.
Not only that, but Google is also performing checks to ensure that the details of local doctors are up to date, and all healthcare providers can update their information by claiming and updating their Google Business Profile. This will help people get connected to the care they need. Also, Health professionals can edit and update information about their hours, services, and more after claiming their profile.
