The leaks and rumours of the Samsung Galaxy M40 have been circulating on the internet for quite some time now. But the South Korean tech giant finally put an end to the leaks with the launch of the Samsung Galaxy M40 in India today. The Samsung Galaxy M40 comes at the mid-range price segment and it holds some impressive specifications. It packs a hole-punch camera and is powered by the Snapdragon 675 SoC – both of which are firsts in the Galaxy M-series. The Samsung Galaxy M40 sits above the Samsung Galaxy M30 and is its successor. But being in the mid-range is tough as it is the most-competitive smartphone segment in India.

Samsung Galaxy M40 price and availability
The Samsung Galaxy M40 is priced at Rs 19,990 for the lone 6GB RAM/ 128GB internal storage variant. It comes in two-colour variant – Midnight Blue and Seawater Blue.
The device will go on sale exclusively on Amazon India and Samsung India online store on June 18 at 12:00pm (noon). It will also be getting launch and sale offers from telecom partners of like Airtel, Idea, Vodafone and Jio.
Samsung Galaxy M40 specifications and features
The Samsung Galaxy M40 sports a 6.3-inch Full HD+ (2340 x 1080 pixels) Infinity-O display and it has a screen-to-body ratio of 91% and has a Gorilla Glass 3 protection on top. It is powered by the octa-core Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 675 SoC paired Adreno 612 GPU. It packs 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage and hold a microSD card of up to 512GB. The newly launched device runs Android 9 Pie skinned with One UI and it packs a 3,500mAh battery with 15W fast charging support.
On the imaging front, the Samsung Galaxy M40 features a triple-rear camera setup which comprises of a 32MP main sensor with an f/1.7 aperture paired with an 8MP ultra-wide-lens with f/2.2 aperture along with a 5MP depth sensor with an f/2.2 aperture. The device also comes with an AI Scene Optimizer which chooses the scene in front of it and optimizes the camera to capture the best pictures. On the front, there is a 16MP selfie camera housed in a punch-hole setup with an f/2.0 aperture for selfies and video calls.
The Samsung Galaxy M40 also has the ‘Screen Sound technology’ which is a first in the Galaxy M-series and it was earlier seen in some of the high-end smartphones. It means that it produces sound through vibrations of the display and it does not require an earpiece. There is also 360-degree surround sound along with Dolby Atmos in the Galaxy M40. Other than that, there is also Widevine L1 Certification for HD video streaming.
