Vivo’s sub-brand iQoo to launch its upcoming smartphone on March 1 in China

Having sub-brands seems to have become the latest trend in the technology industry. First, Huawei launched its Honor sub-brand, followed by Realme from Oppo, and POCO from Xiaomi. Following suit, Chinese smartphone maker Vivo also introduced its sub-brand named iQoo a few days back. And right after the company announced iQoo, reports about the sub-brand’s first smartphone, which will launch on March 1 in China, also started surfacing online.

On Wednesday, the company teased information about the upcoming smartphone launch on social media. It was not the first time that the company teased information about the upcoming smartphone. Earlier Vivo posted a teaser video of iQoo’s upcoming smartphone, which revealed some key features of the handset like Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC. However, a number of specifications still remain undisclosed and there is no word about the pricing of the smartphone.

Vivo iQoo posted on Weibo, a Chinese social platform that it will be launching its new smartphone on March 1 at an event in Shenzhen, China. The company has also asked the fans to register for the event while some fans will be invited by the company itself to go and watch the live launch of the smartphone at the event. The teaser of the phone carries a tagline which reads “Born powerful and monster insider” which could mean the presence of Snapdragon’s flagship CPU onboard.

In an early teaser, the company revealed that the smartphone will come with 12GB of RAM, 256GB of internal storage and 4,000mAh battery. The battery will come support 44W fast charging. The upcoming iQoo smartphone will also have USB Type-C port instead of the regular USB port. Other known features of the upcoming smartphone of Vivo’s iQoo are an in-display fingerprint scanner and a Super HDR camera, which the company introduced in 2018.

The smartphone was teased in China during a sports broadcast where the company showed a brief glimpse of the upcoming smartphone which sported a triple rear camera setup. But further details of the camera – like its resolution and special capabilities – are not known as of now.

Vivo hasn’t revealed yet if the upcoming iQoo smartphone will be launched exclusively for the Chinese market or it will be released in international markets as well. It is still two weeks before the launch of the smartphone so we may get to hear more about the upcoming device before it is officially released by the company.
