Xiaomi to rollout MIUI 12 update on its 23 smartphones in August

The much-awaited update integrates a whole slew of bottom-up renovations and fully revamped UI experience.

After announcing MIUI 12 Global Stable ROMs to a select of Xiaomi devices including Mi 9, Mi 9T and Mi 9T Pro, now news is rife that Xiaomi is now gearing up to rollout MIUI 12 update to its 23 more smartphones starting August 2020. As per the list available on MIUI Indonesia website, the following handsets will be covered under this MIUI 12 Release Schedule:

  1. Mi 10
  2. Mi Note 10
  3. Mi Note 10 Pro
  4. Mi 8 Lite
  5. POCO F2 Pro
  6. POCOPHONE F1
  7. Redmi Note 9
  8. REDMI Note 9 Pro
  9. REDMI Note 8 Pro
  10. Redmi Note 8
  11. REDMI Note 7
  12. REDMI Note 6 Pro
  13. Redmi Note 5
  14. REDMI 9
  15. REDMI 8
  16. Redmi 8A
  17. Redmi 8A Pro
  18. REDMI 7
  19. Redmi 7A
  20. Redmi 6A
  21. REDMI 6
  22. REDMI 6 Pro
  23. Redmi S2

However, Xiaomi has notified that this MIUI 12 release plan is subject to change at any time.

Xiaomi has showcased an interface on MIUI Indonesia website for reference. However, it added that the actual interface may differ from the one shown above. It added that Xiaomi will also continue to update and optimise its features and services without further explanation. The information provided on this website applies only to MIUI 12 and later versions used on Mi, REDMI, and POCO phones.

Xiaomi MIUI Indonesia’s website also added that Super Walpaper is supported on the following devices: Mi 10, POCO F2 Pro, while Static wallpapers are available on other devices as well. Super wallpapers create seamless interstellar journeys as you switch between your Lock screen, Home screen, and Always-on display. Be it Martian desert or a remote corner of the Earth, the splendour you’ll witness will go beyond imaginable.

On the other hand, Xiaomi MIUI Indonesia’s website has also revealed that the floating window is supported on the following devices: Mi 10, Mi Note 10 Pro, Mi Note 10, Redmi Note 8 Pro, Redmi Note 7, Mi 8 Lite, POCO F2 Pro, POCOPHONE F1, Redmi 7, Redmi Note 9, Redmi Note 9 Pro, Redmi 9. In addition, icons with animations are supported on the following devices: Mi 10, POCO F2 Pro, POCOPHONE F1, Redmi Note 8 Pro.

Mind you! Floating windows allow the user to handle different windows at the same time, saving the trouble of constantly switching between apps. The feature is so handy that the user can easily move, close, and resize the windows with simple gestures. For example, when a text message comes while a video is playing, the user can reply in the floating window without pausing the video. Users can drag the floating window to the corner of the screen to minimize it. Tapping it will bring the floating window back and double-tapping will enable the full-screen mode. Floating windows make multitasking on mobile devices seamless, convenient and disturbance-free.

Furthermore, MIUI 12 update will also introduce the new camera feature that is supported on the following smartphones: Mi 10, Mi Note 10 Pro, Mi Note 10, Redmi Note 8 Pro, Redmi Note 7, POCOPHONE F1, Redmi 7, Redmi Note 9, Redmi Note 9 Pro, Redmi 9.
