Samsung is set to release its Android 15-based One UI 7 OS alongside the Galaxy S25 series in January 2025. Ahead of the launch, the company has started rolling out the beta version of the mobile software. One UI 7 OS changes the home screen, Quick Settings Menu, widgets, and more. Which devices are eligible for the One UI 7 Beta update?

As of now, these devices are available for the One UI 7 Beta update:

  • Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra
  • Samsung Galaxy S24+
  • Samsung Galaxy S24

Samsung Galaxy S24 FE is the only variant in the flagship Galaxy S24 series that is not eligible for the Beta update. In the coming days, Samsung will add other devices to this list, including the Galaxy S23 Series, Galaxy Z Fold6 Series, and more.

The update is currently being rolled out in the following countries.

Use the Samsung Members app to install One UI 7 Beta

Step 1: Install the Samsung Members app from the Google Play Store or the Galaxy Store.

Step 2: Launch the app on your device and sign in using your Samsung account.

Step 3: Tap the One UI 7 Beta Program banner at the top of the screen.

Step 4: Alternatively, go to the Notices tab and tap the ‘Registration for One UI 7’ entry.

Step 5: Tap on Register.

Step 6: Agree to the terms to enrol into the Beta program.

Step 7: Minimise the app and go to Settings.

Step 8: Scroll down and select Software update.

Step 9: Hit Download under the One UI 7 Beta entry.

Step 10: Once the update has been downloaded, install it and restart your device.

Step 1: Go to Settings and turn on the Developer Mode by tapping your phone’s Build Number 7 times.

Step 2: Go to Developer Options and enable USB debugging.

Step 3: Connect your smartphone to your PC using a USB cable. Allow USB debugging.

Step 4: Download the One UI 7 Beta ZIP package from here.

Step 5: Once the package has been downloaded, change its name to something that is easy to type.

Step 6: Enter the following command using ADB:

adb reboot recovery

Step 7: Copy the file you download in the Platform Tools folder.

Step 8: Enter the following command:

adb devices

Step 9: If you see your device in the list, enter the following command:

adb sideload [file name].zip

Step 10: One UI 7 Beta will be flashed on your device.

Along with the new Redmi Note 14 series and Xiaomi Sound Outdoor Speaker, Xiaomi India has unveiled the Redmi Buds 6 TWS earphones. The true wireless earphones are compatible with the Xiaomi Earbuds app and offer 360-degree spatial sound with a low latency of up to 60 ms. 49dB hybrid active noise cancellation is one of its features. A 475mAh battery with a 42-hour maximum battery life is included with the Redmi Buds 6 case. They also offer IP54 resistance to dust and splashes.

Redmi Buds 6 India will be available for Rs 2,999 in India. From December 13 to December 19, Buds 6 will be offered at a special launch price of Rs 2,799 only. The earphones will be available in three colour options Ivy Green, Spectre Black, and Titan White.

Every Google account gets 15GB of free online storage. This storage covers everything related to your Google account – emails, photos, files, WhatsApp chats, and more. If you’re a frequent Google Drive user, you can hit the 15GB storage limit very quickly. One of the easiest ways to free up some storage is by removing the Google Photos backup.

Earlier, this process was very convoluted and needed accessing Google Photos from a PC. Xiaomi has officially released the Redmi Note 14 Series in the Indian market today. The new lineup includes three handsets Redmi Note 14, Redmi Note 14 Pro and Redmi Note 14 Pro+. The price of vanilla Note 14 starts at Rs 17,999 for the 8GB RAM with 128GB storage model. The price of the 128GB and 256GB storage variants is set at Rs 18,999 and Rs 20,999. The device will be available in three colour options Phantom Purple, Titan Black and Mystique White.

The Note 14 Pro price in India begins at Rs 23,999 for the 8GB RAM with 128GB storage. The 8GB RAM with 256GB storage comes with a price tag of Rs 25,999. The phone is offered in Spectre Blue, Phantom Purple, and Titan Black colourways.

The Redmi Note 14 range has 6.67-inch 120Hz AMOLED panels. HyperOS, based on Android 14, is installed inside. The Redmi Note 14 Pro has a 4nm Dimensity 7300 CPU, the Note 14 Ultra has a 6nm Dimensity 7025 Ultra processor, and the Pro+ variant has a 4nm Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 processor.

While all three cameras have 50-megapixel sensors, the Pro+ differs from the other two in that it contains an ultrawide shooter and a telephoto zoom sensor. The vanilla version does not include an ultrawide shooter, and the lenses are enclosed within a square shaped camera module.

Google announced longer software updates for the Pixel Fold, Pixel 6 series, and a few additional devices in its lineup. Google has extended software support for them by offering five years of OS and security upgrades. Google may possibly update the Pixel 7 series to Android 18 and use Pixel Drops to provide new features to older smartphones.

According to Google, Pixel phones from the Pixel 6 and Pixel 7 series, as well as some other devices, will get five years of OS and security upgrades in addition to the additional capabilities brought about by the Pixel Drops.

OnePlus 13 listed on Amazon India’s website ahead of January 2025 launch

After launching OnePlus 13 in China, the Chinese tech firm is all set for its global launch. OnePlus recently revealed that it will introduce its newest flagship in January in the global market, including India. The availability information has been confirmed, however the precise launch date has not been disclosed. The Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC powers the device. It features an LTPO AMOLED display and a Hasselblad’s 50-megapixel triple rear camera setup.

The OnePlus 13 will be available in India through Amazon and the OnePlus India website. Yes, the company has officially confirmed the smartphone’s availability. The company has created a dedicated webpage that reveals the phone’s key specs. Given the specifications, it is anticipated that the smartphone would have similarities with the Chinese model. The device was launched in China in October featuring Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC.

Previously the company also confirmed that the OnePlus 13 smartphone will be available in Midnight Ocean, Black Eclipse, and Arctic Dawn colour options.

OnePlus 13 Specifications

The OnePlus 13 has a 6.82-inch Quad-HD+ LTPO AMOLED screen with 1440×3168 pixels of resolution. The BOE display features an adjustable refresh rate (1Hz-120Hz) and a peak brightness of 4,500 nits. The screen has a pulse-width modulation rate of 2,160Hz for low-light scenarios. The smartphone runs ColorOS 15, which is based on Android 15. The global model will be accessible in OxygenOS 15. An Adreno 830 GPU powers the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC. The device includes up to 24GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 1TB of UFS 4.0 storage.

The OnePlus 13 has a triple rear camera arrangement customised by Hasselblad, which includes a 50-megapixel main camera with OIS, a 50-megapixel ultrawide camera, and a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto lens. It also comes with a 32-megapixel front-facing camera.

The phones include an IR transmitter for controlling appliances, are dust- and water-resistant, and have IP68 and IP69 certifications.

The device has an ultrasonic fingerprint reader for biometric verification, a 6,000mAh battery, 100W Flash Charge (wired) and 50W Flash Charge (wireless), and allows reverse wired and wireless charging.

The ‘Undo Device Backup’ option, which Google has added to its Photos app, enables users to remove backed-up images and videos without compromising the device’s local storage. The feature, which is available to iOS users, removes media from the Photos app’s locked folder.

Google launched the ‘Undo Device Backup’ tool to help customers who currently don’t need to backup all of their images and videos, particularly those who are not enrolled in the Google One plan, which offers 15GB of storage for both Gmail and Google Photos.

“We understand that sometimes, you change your mind or that you might not want all of your photos on your device backed up anymore. That’s why we’re rolling out the ability to remove all of the photos and videos that are currently found on your device in Google Photos — without also deleting those photos and videos off of your device — with “Undo device backup.”” the Google support page said.

Your device will continue to store the pictures and videos. Your Google Photos backup will be immediately disabled on that device when you delete it.

Prior to Undo Device Backup release, you had to remove the images and videos from the device’s local storage in order to delete them from Google Photos backups. Another technique was to disable the backup on a smartphone or tablet and remove the media on a desktop.

This feature is now being rolled out to iOS users and will soon be accessible on Android.

  • Open the Google Photos app.
  • At the top, tap your Profile picture or Initial and then Google Photos settings, and then Backup.
  • To view the off-screen items below, scroll.
  • Tap Undo backup for this device.
  • Next to “I understand my photos and videos from this device will be deleted from Google Photos,” check the box.
  • Tap Delete Google Photos backup.
