It is the most affordable foldable smartphone series in the country that includes two models Tecno Phantom V Fold 2, and Phantom V Flip 2. Both the phones are powered by MediaTek chipsets and FHD+ AMOLED displays.

Tecno Phantom V2 Series price in India, sale details

The price of the Phantom V Fold 2 is set at Rs 79,999. The device will be available in a single 12GB RAM with 256GB storage model. It comes in two colour options Karst Green and Rippling Blue.

The Tecno Phantom V Flip 2 on the other hand is priced at Rs 34,999 for the lone 8GB RAM with 256GB storage. The phone will be offered in Travertine Green and Moondust Grey colourways.

As you’re probably aware, charging your phone results in the motion of ions from one end of the battery to another. When the battery is charged to 100%, it counts as 1 charge cycle. The motion of ions creates a significant amount of heat and causes the battery to wear down over a period of time. This is why every smartphone battery has a finite number of charge cycles.

When you use Bypass Charging, the electric current does not pass through the battery. This means, that the battery goes through 0 charge cycles even though your smartphone is actively getting power. Granted, the battery level doesn’t rise (nor fall) during this period, but in the long run, it increases the longevity of your device. WhatsApp has begun to roll out a redesigned typing indicator feature for individual and group chats. When users are actively participating in group and one-on-one discussions, these visual indicators show up at the bottom of the chat screen. Both the iOS and Android platforms now offer this update. Moreover, the functionality shows the profile image and visual cues.

Till now, WhatsApp’s redesigned typing indicator feature was under development and now it is out of the testing phase. The company is widely rolling out this feature for better real-time engagement in chats. The user’s profile image and a new three-dot typing animation at the bottom of the chat screen are provided by the new functionality, which is especially helpful in group chats where several people are typing at once.

The typing indicator that was previously located at the top of the screen beneath the group name has been changed to take the form of a chat bubble in the conversation screen. Samsung Electronics has launched the One UI 7 beta program, which incorporates powerful AI features, streamlined controls, and glimpses into future-scaled AI ecosystems. According to the company’s statement, the platform incorporates AI agents and multimodal capabilities into all touchpoints, resulting in an intuitive and natural experience. The beta program provides a first look at an improved mobile user experience with increased personalisation.

The Galaxy AI features have been enhanced with One UI 7, which includes advanced writing assist tools that increase productivity by allowing users to select texts without navigating between programs. Meta Platforms’ microblogging application Threads is launching a new feature that lets users apply filters for profiles and date ranges to narrow down their searches. This expands on a new feature that lets users select from pre-existing alternatives and set a custom feed as the default. Over the coming weeks, the feature—which lets users choose profiles and configure date ranges—will be accessible everywhere.

Users can now choose between Top and Recent posts in the search menu thanks to new capabilities added to the search bar by Threads. A refine option with three options—After date, Before date, and From profile—is one of the new options on the right side.

Last month Instagram and Threads head Adam Mosseri announced that the firm has started to test “long-overdue improvements to Search and Trending Now on Threads.” He also mentioned that soon an update will arrive bringing the ability to search within a specific date range or search for posts from a single account.

At this price point, the Chinese tech outfit goes up against the likes of Apple, Samsung, and Google. We got our hands on the Pro variant of the Find X8 series to find out if it has what it takes to cement a place for itself among the elites. Oppo’s decision to not skimp on accessories when most major brands are keen on minimalising the unboxing experience is something we appreciate a lot.

The design of the Oppo Find X8 Pro is very ‘camera forward’. The large round cutout for the quad camera setup is the centrepiece of the back panel. In many ways, Oppo is trying to emulate the aesthetic of the digital cameras of the yesteryears. The round cutout looks like a giant lens from a distance. The ridged outer ring around this cutout is a nice touch. A solitary LED flash lies outside of the camera cutout, aligned to the top-right corner of the panel.

The glass back panel has a matte finish which elevates the in-hand feel of the device. The quality of materials used here is very premium. We didn’t feel like using this device with a case solely due to its in-hand feel. The rubberized texture of the aluminium frame complements the back panel very nicely. While the edges of the smartphone are flat, the back panel curves into them ever so slightly.

The bottom edge of the aluminium frame houses the SIM tray, microphone array, USB Type-C slot, and speaker grille. The alert slider makes its way to the left edge while the secondary microphone and the IR blaster find their way up top. The volume rocker keys and the side button are positioned on the right edge. At the bottom of this edge, lies the new ‘Quick Button’ which is inspired by the Camera Control button from the new iPhone 16 series. This isn’t an actual physical button, per se, but rather a touch-sensitive strip that relies on the feedback from the haptic motor to simulate the ‘press’. Double pressing this button triggers the camera and sliding your finger on it adjusts the zoom.

The 6.78-inch curved LTPO AMOLED display on the Find X8 Pro is an absolute delight. It can reach 1,600 nits in High Brightness Mode and remains perfectly legible under direct sunlight. While playing HDR content, this display can hit a staggering 4,500 nits of peak brightness. There’s support for a 120Hz refresh rate, which makes the touch response super smooth. Despite being slightly curved towards the edges, the display does not register any accidental touches. The under-display optical fingerprint scanner is quite snappy but pales in comparison to the ultrasonic units we’ve seen in this price range.

During the review period, we played several titles across OTT platforms like Netflix, Prime Video, and Disney+ Hotstar on the Oppo Find X8 Pro. The display produced vivid, contrasty images which packed a lot of detail and showcased the glorious deep blacks. The stereo speaker setup was loud enough to overpower the surrounding noise without letting any distortion creep into the mix. Overall, the media-streaming experience on this smartphone is rock solid and leaves no room for complaints.

Oppo Find X8 Pro Review: Performance and Cameras

MediaTek’s flagship chipset for 2025, Dimensity 9400, lies at the heart of the Oppo Find X8 Pro. This 3nm chipset will feature in a lot of flagship smartphones next year, so keep an eye out for our reviews. The Find X8 Pro delivered solid numbers on the Geekbench 6 app, scoring 2,803 points in the single-core test and 8,460 points in the multi-core test.

A lot of folks are apprehensive about Dimensity 9400’s performance in comparison to its direct rival Snapdragon 8 Elite. After using the Find X8 Pro for a week, we can attest that this 3nm chipset is a powerhouse. Oppo’s flagship smartphone crushes any task you throw at it. The 16GB LPPDR5X RAM and 512GB UFS 4.0 storage ensure you stay on top of things at all times. We loaded a dozen apps on the device and it did not break a sweat. The app load time is fractional and switching between multiple tasks is not a hassle at all. Routine tasks like media streaming, web browsing, video calling, and instant messaging present no lags at all. Even demanding tasks like video editing were handled expertly by the device.

While Oppo doesn’t market the Find X8 Pro as a gaming smartphone, we still expect a good gaming experience from a device that costs Rs 1 lakh. To test its gaming performance, we played titles like Call of Duty Mobile and BGMI on the smartphone. Even with the graphics set to their maximum setting, the Find X8 Pro did not interrupt the gameplay with any lag or hiccup. The vapour chamber inside the device keeps its temperature in check. After 40 minutes of intense gaming, we could barely feel any warmth on the back panel.

The Oppo Find X8 Pro runs Android 15 skinned with ColorOS 15 out of the box. Right off the bat, there is some bloatware to be found on the device, which is never a good look at this price point. Once you get past that, the ColorOS 15 does nothing but impress. Its vibrant aesthetic along with eye-catching animations and a diverse range of customisation options make for a tremendous software experience.

Some elements of Oppo’s Android skin have been highly influenced by Apple’s iOS. The Quick Settings menu on the Find X8 Pro looks similar to the iPhone’s Control Centre, as do the default wallpapers and lock screen widgets. Even the depth effect for the lock screen clock is directly lifted from the iPhone. But the similarities don’t just end there. The punch hole cutout on the display produces Dynamic Island-style popup animations for music playback, live alerts, and system functions like low battery and more. But, to Oppo’s credit, these animations are tasteful and do not feel like a cheap knockoff.

If these similarities aren’t enough to sway a loyal iPhone user, the Oppo Find X8 Pro also has a ‘Share with iPhone’ feature that makes file sharing easy with your iPhone buddies. In terms of software support, however, the Find X8 Pro trails behind the segment leaders in Samsung and Google, promising 5 major OS upgrades and 6 years of security patches.

The battery performance is where Oppo steers ahead of its competition in this segment. The Find X8 Pro packs a massive 5,910mAh silicon-carbon battery unit under its hood. We pushed the Oppo Find X8 Pro to its boundaries during the review period and never once felt betrayed by the battery. Even with heavy usage, the smartphone has the mileage to last an entire day with ease. On moderate use, we were left with a 30% spare charge at the end of the day. The 80W SuperVOOC charge provided in the box replenishes the battery to 100% in less than an hour. There’s support for 50W wireless charging as well.

Moving on to Oppo’s bread and butter, let’s talk about the camera performance of the Find X8 Pro. Here is a breakdown of the smartphone’s rear quad camera setup.

We spent a lot of time with the Find X8 Pro’s camera and were blown away by its performance. The primary shooter takes stupendous images in outdoor daylight conditions, packing rich colours, superb dynamic range, and a tremendous level of detail. The resulting images are very close to life. We were very impressed with how the sensor exposed the sky at different stages of the day. Even in harsh midday lighting, the camera ascribed rich colours to the sky and did not let the light intensity blow out the colour of the subject we were shooting.

The ultrawide camera replicates the performance of the primary shooting without any shift in the colour profile. Very rarely do we see an ultrawide lens do this, but it is the case here. It even managed to preserve the sharpness of the shadows and rendered them in beautiful detail. You can use the primary shooter and ultrawide lens interchangeably on this smartphone and that is perhaps the highest compliment we can bestow upon it.

The two periscope telephoto lenses make the case for the Oppo Find X8 Pro being the best camera smartphone around. The 3x and 6x optical zoom lenses take amazing pictures with rich, vivid colours and a good level of detail. Once you move past the 6x optical zoom limit, the colour shift becomes more apparent. An egregious 60x zoom also yields decent results, but it is quite clear that there’s AI processes helping the smartphone in the background. You can hit a maximum zoom of 120x on this smartphone. We used it to zoom into very distant billboards and were surprised with its text resolution.

Oppo Find X8 Pro Review: Design and Display — Telephoto Lens: 3x v 6x

In limited lighting conditions, the primary shooter puts up an amazing display. It does a great job of brightening the subject, removing the noise, and ascribing life-like colours to the background. The final results were very close to the scene in front of us. The ultrawide camera replicates a similar performance in limited lighting but with a minor level of grain creeping into the images.

The Oppo Find X8 Pro takes stunning portrait shots, perhaps some of the best we’ve seen on a smartphone. There are 4 zoom levels of zoom to choose from – 1x, 2x, 3x, and 6x, and they all deliver great results. The portraits are sharp, focussed, and served with a delectable background blur. Lastly, the 32MP front-facing camera takes good selfies and retains the skin texture and tone.

Conclusion

The Find X8 Pro is Oppo’s statement piece. Not only does it produce an unmatched camera performance in its segment, it leaves no stone unturned in terms of design, performance, and everyday usability. The anti-collision and anti-fall sensors ensure it avoids embarrassing tumbles, like falling down the stairs or colliding with your prized vase. While it does hit the wall at times when mapping, once done it knows from the second clean-up session where to do what.

The smart app is not the company’s own, but a third-party app called ‘Smart Life’ that is developed in Hong Kong. Overall, it is a good app that does the job well. From scheduling cleanups to setting no-go zones, the app ensures you’re in control—even when you’re not home. Voice control with Alexa and Google Assistant feature is also available in case you have these smart devices at home.

Equipped with a 5,000mAh battery, this robo-vac boasts up to five hours of uninterrupted cleaning in Quiet mode. Again, that is claimed by the company. We got just under 4 hours from it at medium levels of suction. You can get more if you drop the suction level to a bare minimum. However, when it needs a juice boost, it heads back to the docking station. The only drawback, during power outages, it may lose its way, turning into a confused wanderer.

From dealing with monsoon mud to pet fur, the Smart Clean is tailored for Indian households. Its HEPA filtration ensures allergens are trapped, making it perfect for families with allergy sufferers. It can climb over carpets that as 15mm in thickness. This worked fine for us as most of our carpets were under that size. Thicker carpets might be a trouble for this one.

At Rs 34,999, the Eureka Forbes Smart Clean with Auto Bin isn’t just a vacuum—it’s a lifestyle upgrade. It tackles cleaning with precision, handles Indian households’ unique needs, and even takes voice commands. While it isn’t perfect (a bit of carpet drama and occasional docking confusion), the pros far outweigh the quirks.

Features like stations, collaborative playlists, personalised playlists, and Apple Music Sing are all part of Apple Music’s Replay 2024. With collaborative playlists, users can invite one another to choose and edit tracks by working together on playlists and responding to songs with emojis. With daily updates to reflect changing musical preferences, Discovery Station provides a customised radio station that plays the greatest songs from Apple Music’s collection of over 100 million songs.

Apple Music has added the Shazam Global Radio Spins chart for the first time to its year-end charts, determining what’s playing on over 40,000 radio stations worldwide. Dua Lipa leads the chart with “Houdini,” having six songs on the chart. Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran tie for second with four songs each, followed by Sabrina Carpenter with three songs. Pop leads the chart with 54 songs, while the country had a strong year with Beyoncé’s “TEXAS HOLD ‘EM,” Shaboozey’s “A Bar Song (Tipsy),” and Dasha’s “Austin (Boots Stop Workin’)” all in the top 20.
