These days, security and privacy is on everyone’s mind. Whether it is the government or social apps like Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram, users want everyone to take their privacy with utmost importance.
There are few privacy and security settings that a lot of Instagram users are unaware of. We are going to bring two very important Instagram settings that you can update and check for taking care of your account and its privacy.

Login activity: A lot of people do not know what this option on Instagram does. Well, this option is one of the best settings to know if somebody is secretly using your Instagram account or has access to your account without your will.
How can one access this option?
The steps are pretty simple, follow the instructions below to know how it works.
- Open your Instagram account.
- Click on the Bottom-right icon.
- Tap on the three horizon lines.
- Go to the settings, bottom-right corner.
- Click on security> login activity.
Instagram will show you details of which device logged in to your account and where that device is located.
This feature is also on Facebook but is not very popular. This can also be proved as a very useful feature if you have multiple users logging in to one single account.
Two-factor Authentication: This is another feature that Instagram, Facebook, Whatsapp and Google have, but is used very little because this feature is not very popular amongst users.
Two-factor Authentication, you might have heard about this feature may be very few times, but let us make you understand how this actually works.

How can one access this option?
- Open your Instagram account.
- Click on the Bottom-right icon
- Tap on the three horizon lines
- Go to the settings, bottom-right corner
- Click on security> two-factor authentication
- Click on get started
- Choose your security method, either authentication app or text message
- If you click the authentication app option, you will have to download an app.
- If you choose ‘text message‘, click on it and Instagram will ask for a 6-digit code sent on your phone number.
- Verify the same and you are good to go.
In this security option, one has to ask for authentication at least once to log in to the account if the user/device is logging in for the first time.
This might seem simple, but this option has a very big advantage, that is, even If somebody somehow gets to know your password, but your 2FA is on, they would not be able to log in to the account unless they get the one-time password (OTP), for which they will have to get the access of either your phone number or email address, which is not simple.
In this option, you also get a few security codes, which are just for your account that can be used If you are not able to access your phone number. You can save them anywhere you want. We strongly recommend you enable 2FA for your Instagram account.
