Amazon announced the Echo Auto on January 7 2020 in Bengaluru, India. This device brings the Amazon voice assistant, Alexa to a user’s car and integrates it with the car’s system. The device uses an array of over 8 microphones to listen and communicate user actions. The device is said to be built to hear users over a variety of sound related disturbances that may occur whilst travelling in a car.
The device can be powered through the car’s charging socket or USB port. The Amazon Echo Auto connects to the user’s car system to control Audio playback, too. Over that, the Echo Auto can be connected to the Car through Bluetooth or an aux cable. The Echo auto uses the Alexa App on the user’s smartphone to stream music, make calls and send text messages. Consumers can now control smart-devices, set reminders, add tasks, make calls, send text messages, and manage their calendar all while streaming music and driving the car through the assistant feature offered by the Amazon Echo Auto.
The eight mic array of the Amazon Echo Auto enables the user to be heard over road noise and loud conversations. The user can enable music, get questions answered and even hear the news without touching their smartphone, as claimed by the company. The user can also stream music from the user’s smartphone on a platform installed in the smartphone into the car’s audio system. The device can even send texts and enable the user to make hands-free calls to contacts saved on the smartphone.
Alexa, through the Amazon Echo Auto can help users get directions and stay updated and on the right route while travelling. Alexa opens up a truckload of entertainment sources while providing directions to the user who is driving.
The Echo Auto is currently available for pre-order to users at a price of Rs 4,999 and will start shipping from January 15.
