Yahoo will be organizing its first Mobile Developer Meetup in India soon. The event will take place in New Delhi on June 24 and in Bangalore on June 26. Yahoo Meetups are an opportunity for mobile app developers and innovators to get together to learn and discuss important issues.
At the forthcoming Meetup, the mobile app developers will have their first look at the Yahoo Mobile Developer Suite. This is a new suite of facilities that is designed to help the mobile app developers to measure, advertise, monetize and improve their mobile apps. The Yahoo Mobile Developer Suite is a powerful mixture of technology and data from Yahoo, Flurry and BrightRoll.
Speaking about the upcoming meetup, Jarah Euston, VP of Analytics and Marketing, Flurry (owned by Yahoo), said, “India has a vibrant, rapidly growing app developer community. Indian tourist spots to get Wi-Fi hostpots soon, courtesy BSNL
Next time you visit Taj Mahal or the Qutub Minar, just check if you get access to free Wi-Fi over there. Yes, as per recent reports, the Bharat Sanchal Nagar Limited (BSNL) is investing Rs 7,000 crore for setting up Wi-Fi hotspots at different tourist spots across the country, and Taj Mahal and Qutub Minar could be among them.
Anupam Shrivasatva, Chairman and managing director of BSNL revealed this while speaking at one of the events and told reporters that Wi-Fi is an obvious choice for BSNL going forward.
So, how would BSNL be going forward with the implementation? The government organisation would take help from its recently added partner in the project, QuadGen Wireless. Together, they will integrate 3G, 4G networks so that customer can be seamlessly transferred to Wi-Fi.
The idea is to get 2,500 Wi-Fi hotspots up and running by end of this financial year.

Logitech is a leading manufacturer of gaming products. They have recently launched the Logitech G29 Driving Force, a force feedback racing wheel for PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4. Logitech G29 Driving Force has a dual-motor force feedback transmission with anti-backlash helical gearing, hand-stitched leather-wrapped rim along with a stainless steel throttle, brake and clutch pedals.

Aircel users will now enjoy free incoming calls when roaming in these 5 southern states
Aircel started its operations in the country with a bang, but it never managed to win over as many consumers in Northern India as it did in the South. They have announced free incoming calls on roaming for its consumers in Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu and Kerala.
The new offer is named, ‘Five States, One Rate’ and it will be applicable starting from today; i.e. 11th June 2015. As part of this offer, Aircel customers in southern India will incur no incoming call charges while outgoing calls will be charged at 1 paise/second for both local and STD calls.
Commenting on the launch of this offer, Anupam Vasudev, chief marketing officer, Aircel, said, “The five states -witness a huge amount of business and leisure travelling and given the porous borders between these states, we did not want our customers to restrict themselves in any manner while using our services.”
ZTE launches 4G enabled smartphone Blade Qlux 4G for Rs 4,999 in India
ZTE the Chinese smartphone manufacturer has launched yet another budget Android smartphone dubbed as Blade Qlux 4G for the Indian market. The smartphone comes with 4G support and will be exclusively available through Amazon at a price tag of Rs 4,999. The customers can purchase the device from the online retailer from 16 June, 2015.
The Blade Qlux 4G features a 4.5-inch IPS display with 854×480 pixels resolution. The smartphone comes with dual SIM functionality and run on Android 4.4 KitKat operating system which is upgradable to 5.0 Lollipop version with the Amigo UI running on top. The device is powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6732M paired with 1GB of RAM. The smartphone offers 8GB of internal storage which can be expanded up to 32GB using microSD card.

The Indian smartphone manufacturer WickedLeak has launched its first Windows 8 tablet called Wammy Hero in the India market. The company has priced the device for Rs 8,990 and it is available on its official website.
Talking about the specifications, the WickedLeak Wammy Hero features an 8-inch display with 800×1280 pixels resolution and 178 degree wide viewing angles. The tablet runs on Windows 8.1 operating system and is powered by a 1.33GHz quad-core Intel Atom Z3735F processor.

Gionee Elife E8 with octa-core SoC, 3GB RAM and 23.7MP camera launched
The Chinese smartphone manufacturer Gionee has expanded its E series of smartphone with the launch of Elife E8. The device flaunts a 6-inch display with 2560×1440 pixels resolution protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. The dual SIM smartphone runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system topped with the Amigo UI of the company.
Powering the Elife E8 is a 2GHz octa-core MediaTek Helio X 10 (MT6795) processor coupled with 3GB of RAM. The internal storage of the device accounts to 64GB which can be further expanded to 128GB. Wammy Note 4: A phone with 3GB RAM announced in India
Their earlier phones might not have done exceptionally in the market, but that couldn’t stop Wickedleak from launching an upgrade to its Wammy Note series; does the name ring a bell? The Indian smartphone manufacturer has announced Wammy Note 4, the successor to the Wammy Note 3.

Facebook Messenger app crosses 1billion downloads on Android
The social networking giant Facebook has revealed that its Messenger app for Android has crossed 1 billion downloads. The VP, product Messaging David Marcus has shared a screen shot of the same on Facebook.
The number of downloads registered in the Google Play store have crossed the 1 billion mark. It took a complete year for the app to cross this milestone, last year during the same time it had 500 million downloads. The Facebook Messenger is the third app of the company to achieve 1 billion downloads.
Of late Facebook is also focusing a lot on its Messenger app. The social networking giant has introduced new features like video calling, location sharing via messages and information about the first time message senders. These updates are introduced in order to enhance the user experience.

Twitter rolls out new feature, makes conversation follow-up easy
The micro blogging site Twitter is all set to smoothen out the process of conversation for the users. Twitter has now rolled out certain changes in the format of how the conversations will be displayed on the Twitter page for easy follow up.
Talking about the change, in its official blog Akarshan Kumar, Product Manager, Twitter stated, “On the Tweet page, Tweets that are part of a conversation are connected by a line. If you want to see more of the replies to a specific Tweet within a conversation you can click ‘View other replies’,”.
So, this means that a conversation surrounding a tweet will be grouped together by line, highlighting the tweets and replies. One will also be able to view the full conversation by simply clicking on a “View other replies” option in order to expand the complete conversation.
This new update from Twitter will be made available for the web first the n followed by mobile devices.

Ultimate Ears, a brand of Logitech have recently launched a Bluetooth Speaker UE BOOM in India. This social music player provides the users a brilliant digital music experience. UE BOOM is the latest stereo speaker that offers 360-degree sound in a battery powered device, which provides users 15 hours of playback time.
The company claims the speakers to be water resistant, which is a good thing. So, if a user drops water on it, nothing will happen to the speakers. UE BOOM has another good feature that the speaker is wrapped in a specially developed acoustic skin and is stain resistant. This speaker can easily connect with most BT devices. UC Web launches UC Cleaner booster app for Android
UCWeb has introduced UC Cleaner, an app booster which helps in optimizing the performance of Android smartphone. The company states that the app has received half a million monthly active users in its initial beta stage.
Speaking about the device, James Wong, Product Manager, UC Cleaner, said, “As smartphones become ubiquitous, we are highly dependent on cleaner apps to manage usage. Swiftkey app updated for iPhone gets new emojis
The popular keyboard app Swiftkey app has rolled out an update for its iPhone app. The update brings along new range of emojis to the app. The app also incorporates the support of selecting the skin tone of human emoji characters, adds new new flag and family emoji.
The app will now allow the users to add skin tone options for Emoji and the popular Vulcan Salute emoji for Live Long & Prosper. The upgrade also brings in some performance improvements and bug fixes. The Swiftkey users will now be able to decide whether to display the emoji or globe icon to get emoji. The smartphone manufacturer Celkon has expanded its Campus series of smartphones with the launch of Campus A355. The smartphone is listed on the official website of the company without any pricing and availability details.
The Campus A355 features a 3.5-inch display with 320 x 480 pixels resolution. The dual SIM device runs on Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating system. Powering the smartphone is a 1GHz single core processor coupled with 256MB of RAM. The Indian smartphone manufacturer Intex has launched its 4G smartphone in the Indian market dubbed as Aqua 4G+. The company has priced the smartphone for Rs 9,499 and it will be Black and White colour options. The smartphone comes with support for 4G and 21 regional languages.

We have come across several two in one notebooks (basically a tablet with keyboard attachment) from various multi-nationals such as Dell that were pretty darn good, however could not do justice in the price segment. Now another maker has launched a two in one notebook, which definitely justifies the price. Yes, we are talking about the Micromax Laptab.
Design
We have to hand it to Micromax. They did a bit of their homework and have tried to make a great tablet cum notebook in the form of LapTab. The users get a 10.1-inch Windows 8.1 driven tablet with a nice keyboard attachment. The tablet part seems to be well built and can withstand some serious bumps. The power and volume buttons are located on the right of the screen and right above it (on top) users will get the USB charging, audio ports, microSD card and SIM card slots. Users also get twin 2 MP front and rear cameras on the Micromax LapTab.
The keyboard attachment overall size is decent. One can easily clip the tablet to the keyboard. However, the users get just one viewing angle. This means you cannot adjust the screen according to your viewing position. A USB port is also available on the keyboard that can attach any pen drive or mouse to it with plug and play functionality.
Performance
Micromax made the Laptab in association with Microsoft and Intel. This nifty device runs the Intel fourth gen Quad-Core Atom processor with 1.83 GHz clock speed. 2GB RAM and 32 GB memory comes on board too. The storage can be upgraded with the help of a microSD card by up to 64 GB. Microsoft Windows 8.1 comes installed on the Micromax LapTab with the option to upgrade to Windows 10 when it gets released.
We put it to the test and found out that the Micromax LapTab works great when simple applications like MS office and web browsers ran. However, this device is not built for heavy usage or severe multi-tasking. High-end games run shoddily. But, that is not the USP of this two in one. Micromax is giving portability to the users who want a mix of light business and entertainment features.
The 10-inch touchscreen is excellent to work with and it recognises every tap, touch and swipe quickly. HD videos play well on the Micromax Laptab, but the sound lags behind. The loudspeaker is not loud enough and one cannot enjoy a movie or a game without the use of external speakers or headphones. The 2 MP cameras are just about okay for everyday images. Don’t expect picture brilliance here.
Verdict
Micromax is giving the LapTab to users for an impressive price of Rs 14,999 on Amazon India. This includes the keyboard attachment. Moving past that, there is the case of less RAM and storage. Thankfully a microSD card slot is available so it’s not much of an issue.
Overall, we quite liked the device. The keyboard attachment is good. One can easily slide the tablet back out from the clip area and into the keyboard attachment, so that one can carry it like a laptop. We would have appreciated slightly bigger keys, but then again for the screen size this one is fine. The battery life did make an outstanding impact on us. We were able to Squeeze out 10.5 hours of continuous work with the Wi-Fi feature enabled. All in all, the Micromax LapTab is a great option for users who want decent performance and bang for their buck in a portable machine.
